On the Food Network Star 2012, as seen in last week’s episode, the format has completely changed. The contestants are being mentored by three chefs, Bobby Flay, Alton Brown and Giada De Laurentiis.
Besides the mentoring change, the challenges are different from previous seasons, and its more team challenges than individual ones. Then the chefs must defend their players in the judging chairs to “the network,” that is made up of Susie Fogelson and Bob Tuschman, who are both network icons. Bob Tuschman is the general manager of Food Network, and Susie Fogelson is Senior Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for Food Network and Cooking Channel. The contestants now have a bottom teams and a top team. The worse performers from each of the bottom teams must compete in a challenge about their food and camera presence.
