It has been a summer of rumors for American Idol ever since Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced they would be leaving American Idol 2012 after two years as judges. Who would fill their seats and would Randy Jackson return? Mariah Carey was announced as a new judge back in July and the rumors have been flying ever since, but now we know for sure. FOX announced that Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban will be joining Mariah at the judges’ table and coming back for American Idol Season 12 (and his twelfth with the American Idol) is Randy Jackson.

Mariah Carey was confirmed finally a couple weeks ago as the first new judge for American Idol Season 12. Now it looks like the next new judge will be Nick Jonas! American Idol 2012 winner Phillip Phillips had his much-needed kidney surgery on June 7, as reported right here, and he went to his Twitter account to show his love to his fans. Phillip Phillips, recovering at an American Idol 2012 executive’s mansion in Los Angeles, sent a tweet to his fans thanks them for their support: “It means a lot to my family and I. I’m just resting and healing.” Phillips went on to say that he’s “ready to be able to pick the guitar back up and really play, it’s been too long.”

After months of pain, American Idol 2012 winner Phillip Phillips is slowly on his way to being pain-free after undergoing his much-needed kidney surgery. After dealing with kidney stone issues throughout all of American Idol 2012, according to TMZ, Phillip was under the knife for six and a half hours yesterday to remove kidney stones that were too large to pass.
