Frankly we’re pretty much sick of the Celebrity Apprentice and wish it would vanish into that dark, hidden world where all bad television shows eventually are consigned to. When it finally does vanish from this good Earth in a blaze of fire, we will say ‘good riddance’ and be glad to never have to hear Donald Trump say “you’re fired!” ever again. Meanwhile, however, every very rare once and a while we do get something so ridiculous from that terrible show that we can’t help but laugh – a little.

Since it is such an extremely unlikely place to find a good laugh, we decided we had to share it just for posterity’s sake. Check out this stupendously amusing 30-second commercial created by Team Backbone for ACN’s new videophone as part of the most recent battle on Celebrity Apprentice. It may have won the top spot on the show for the best ad spot, but as a standalone video it is surreal & hilarious.  Gary Busey is scary, seriously dudes.

Here’s something that would make you swear off drinking, smoking, talking on the cell-phone while driving, and all those other terrible vices – a house being carried through the air by a ton of balloons. Hallucinating? Not at all. It’s just an experiment for a brand new show. Sometimes I think I must be a real stick-in-the-mud. I saw the Pixar movie Up and really enjoyed it. I thought the adventure was fun and the flying house was pretty cool, but I never ever considered if it could be done in real life. Cartoon = fiction, right? Yep, but fiction can sometimes become reality.

National Geographic has a new series coming this fall called How Hard Can It Be? And they decided to find out how hard it would be to really use balloons to make a house fly. Sure, it’s not an actual full-sized house; only 16 by 16 feet, but like the old saying goes, “It’s not the size that matters.”

The National Geographic Channel teamed up with Pixar, two balloon pilots, engineers, scientists, and a group of volunteers who probably felt like the luckiest people on the planet.

300 three-meter-tall weather balloons, each filled with a tank of helium, were used to lift the house into the air from a private airfield in Los Angeles on Saturday. The real-life Up house reached an altitude of over 3,000 meters and flew for almost an hour, before touching down for a safe landing.

Take a look at the video and then check out the awesome gallery of photos, which includes a great shot from inside the house and one of the balloon pilots who actually got to ride in the thing. I always knew I should have been putting my hot air to better use.

Ultimate tough guy James Bond has stared down death numerous times but now 007 is taking on one of his toughest challenges yet – high heels. International Women’s Day is today and Daniel Craig, along with his on-screen boss, M (Dame Judi Dench), have teamed up to ask exactly how far women have come in the 21st century. Answer – not as far as you might think.

Bond, who has been described as the type of man every woman wants and every man wants to be, is a good choice for the eye-opening message because, let’s face it, Bond in drag will get just about everyone’s attention. Call me on it if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the spy with a license to kill has even dressed up as a woman for one of his missions, so this is quite an achievement.

The video has Craig (in his Bond persona) walking towards the screen, as Dench asks if they really are equals. She then proceeds to mention facts that indicate the race for equality is a long way from being over. We’re reminded that women continue to be paid less then men for doing the same type of work and that women, unlike men, must constantly make the decision between family and work because motherhood can be viewed as a negative when it comes to looking for a corporate go-getter. Motherhood can be the kiss of death when it comes to advancement and promotions; fatherhood isn’t seen as the same type of liability.

After reading off a few of these figures, Dench remarks, “For someone with such a fondness for women, I wonder if you’ve ever considered what it might be like to be one.” Bond’s response is to walk off-camera, but a short time later he approaches again. This time, we see a decidedly different side of Bond as Craig is decked out in a dress, high heels, make-up, wig, and even earrings.

Once again, Dench recites a few more statistics that many people don’t consider while living their day-to-day lives. Apparently, the numbers aren’t appealing to Bond as he soon starts removing his disguise. It seems that he’s decided it’s best to be a man while living in a man’s world.

Once again, M asks if men and women are truly equals, and as Craig walks off camera, she announces, “until the answer is yes, we must never stop asking.”

Throughout the entire scene, Craig remains silent but does a great job of looking sullen after having the differences called out.

The PSA was directed by Sam Taylor-Wood (Nowhere Boy) and written by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass). Because Sam is actually short for Samantha, the commercial is being referred to by some as the first James Bond film to be directed by a woman. While it’s a noble aspiration, I think referring to this as a “film” is a bit of a stretch but I guess it’s still a note-worthy accomplishment.

Reporting on the Grammy Awards last night took a scary turn when CBS reporter Serene Branson looked like she might be having a stroke live on video during a report from the red carpet. The young CBS Los Angeles reporter slurred her speech, could not seem to formulate coherent words and, to some, appeared to have weakness in one side of her face. Many viewers wondered whether they were watching Serene Branson having a stroke live on video.

CBS spokesman Mike Nelson released a statement saying Serene Branson was “examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast. Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized. As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home and she says that she is feeling fine this morning.”

It has been speculated that Branson might have suffered a transient ischemic attack, or TIA, that caused aphasia — altered speech patterns. A TIA is caused by a temporary blockage or disturbance of blood supply to an area of the brain and causes stroke-like symptoms. TIAs can be precursors or warning signs for full-blown strokes that may occur in the future.

No further comment has been released so far from CBS or Branson.

An enormous statue known as Touchdown Jesus burned to the ground in Monroe, Ohio Monday night after it was struck by lightning. The six-story statue, officially known as King of Kings, was built by the Solid Rock Church in 2004 and was well-known as regional landmark. We can’t help but wonder what the members of the Solid Rock Church think about their giant Touchdown Jesus statue being destroyed by an act of God.

Maybe he/she thought it was unflattering, or got sick of all the semi-nasty nicknames for it. Some of our favorites include: Big Butter Jesus, Drowning Jesus and Quicksand Jesus. (And yes, there are even more nicknames.) You can probably guess most of the origins of those nicknames from the photo.

The Big Butter Jesus nickname isn’t quite as obvious, but apparently the statue had kind of an off-white buttery color under certain light. A comedian named Heywood Banks actually wrote a song called “Big Butter Jesus” dedicated to the statue.

Anyway, the huge Jesus statue was totally nuked after lightning apparently struck one of its hands and quickly consumed the rest. Apparently it was made out of Styrofoam and fiberglass – and very flammable.

The Solid Rock Church plans to rebuild the statue once it can afford to replace the $250,000 it took to make it in the first place. Personally, we think if someone up there decided to set Jesus on fire, maybe the church should think about spending that money some other way. Like feeding the homeless or clothing the poor. Just saying.

This is definitely the funniest thing I’ve seen all day!  The Jane Lynch iPhone 4 video from Electric Spoofaloo features the Glee star comparing herself to the new iPhone 4 in an Apple parody ad. You have to see this! If this doesn’t make you LOL, we feel bad for you because your sense of humor probably needs a tune-up.

In the spoof commercial, Jane Lynch says she was “lost once too” just like the new iPhone 4 prototype, except she wasn’t lost in a bar, she was lost in an “underground pleasure lair.” Lynch also says she too has “a camera on my front, but I tell people it’s a third nipple so they don’t feel less than.”

Our favorite line though is Lynch saying she ”used to have multiple apps, God I miss the nineties.” And what were the nineties like the fake Apple guy asks? “Like clusterbombs going off in my pants,” Lynch says.

Is there anything this woman does that isn’t just freaking hilarious?

The brother of Oscar-winning actress Mo’Nique apologized for sexually abusing his sister during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Monday. Gerald Imes said he has been denying the abuse for 30 years.

Precious star Mo’Nique did not appear on the show, but has previously spoken about the abuse she suffered from her brother. Oprah Winfrey said Mo’Nique had given her blessing for the interview with Gerald Imes.

Imes claims he was also molested as a child and was an alcohol and drug addict by the time he was 11. He said the sexual abuse of Mo’Nique happened for a year or two when he was 13 and she was 7 or 8.

“I abused and betrayed the trust of another sibling, my sister, my blood sister,” Imes said during the Oprah interview. “Hopefully, somewhere, somehow, as siblings, we can come back together as brother and sister.”

We hope Mo’Nique can at least feel some sort of relief at having her brother finally admit the abuse she had to go through at his hands.

We aren’t quite sure what to think about the rather racy skit between young singing sensation Justin Bieber and 30 Rock star Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live this week. While we won’t deny we found it kind of funny to watch, we also felt a little disturbed at the sexual innuendo of the sketch.

In the SNL skit, Tina Fey plays an older teacher smitten with her younger student. In a series of fantasy daydreams, she imagines Bieber’s character singing cheesy pop songs at her and doing bizzare things like crawling into a giant baby stroller.

Maybe we’re a bit old fashioned, but we’re not quite sure what Justin Bieber’s parents were thinking letting him do a sketch where Tina Fey’s much older character fantasizes about “bathing” the teenage boy. The whole thing was both amusing and creepy.

Some days, we just need some serious amusement to lighten things up. Today, Jimmy Fallon provided us with those much needed laughs with his spoof on Kate Gosselin‘s Dancing With the Stars paso doble performance this week.

Kate Gosselin’s dance to Lady Gaga‘s “Paparazzi” on Dancing With the Stars was so terrible; we can’t even talk about it. Although we will say she almost made us crawl up into a ball and weep in response to the sheer horror of it.

Jimmy Fallon’s spoof on Kate Gosselin’s dance, however, made us quite literally laugh out loud. We just love this guy. The fake, blonde hair extension add-on just makes it all the more hysterical.

We just have to say, Jimmy Fallon – we salute you. For this alone we would continue to be your rabid fans for life.

Jersey Shore‘s Snooki sure does know how to dance her ass off – right onto the ground! Apparently the MTV reality star was feeling a bit wobbly while she was dancing at the Shrine club in CT on Jan. 22. After weaving a bit on her feet, Snooki landed smack on her butt after falling on the dance floor. Of course, the whole thing was captured on video, because when does Snooki NOT have a camera shoved in her face at every opportunity?

Personally we think Jersey Shore is one of the most inane, vapid excuses for a television program we’ve ever seen. And that’s saying something coming considering how many reality TV programs we’re rabidly addicted to. You have to admit though, something about those Jersey Shore people has folks watching – the show is one of MTV’s biggest hits ever. We can’t figure it out, but maybe we just can’t force our taste levels down that low to understand it.

Since we really abhor Jersey Shore and all it stands for, we can’t help but have a giggle when one of the cast members has a ‘stupid’ moment in public. This video of Snooki stumbling around in what appears to be a drunken stupor and then crashing her ass on the floor happens to be one of our favorites.

Too bad we didn’t really get to see the look on her face after her ‘crew’ helped her back on her feet. We’re betting it was priceless.

Of course, there is another Snooki video out there that’s even better.

Personally, while we never approve of violence – especially towards women, we can kind of sympathize with the dude throwing the punch. That mouth would tempt anyone to smack it.
