American Idol producers aren’t talking, but Lady Gaga may have spilled the news early that she’ll be appearing on the show next month. Reps for American Idol have so far refused to confirm Lady Gaga will be performing (and maybe mentoring?) on the series, but it looks like a pretty sure bet.

Lady Gaga posted a short message to her fans on her Twitter feed on Friday that seemed to confirm rumors she would be hitting the American Idol stage soon. “See you on American Idol. MAY 5th, Little Monsters.” That sounds like a pretty solid confirmation to us!

Lady Gaga previously lent her talents to American Idol last April when she performed “Poker Face” on the show. We’re hoping she’ll also be serving as a ‘guest mentor’ this season – that could be very entertaining indeed!

Lady Gaga fans can also look forward to the upcoming Glee episode dedicated to the eclectic pop star. “Bad Romance” and “Poker Face” will be among the songs by Lady Gaga to be featured on the show.

American Idol sensation Adam Lambert has announced he will return to the show next week as a guest mentor for the current crop of contestants. Lambert will also perform his single “Whataya Want from Me” on the results show on Wednesday.

“It’s true!” Lambert told fans in a post on his Twitter page on Tuesday. “In addition to performing on Idol April 14th, I will be mentoring the top 8 on the 13th. I feel honored to be asked.”

Although Adam Lambert is barely out of his own American Idol experience, he feels confident he can serve as a good mentor on the show. “Even though I’m just at the start of my recording career, I hope to lend some insight as one who’s been thru the Idol adventure.”

Lambert also assured fans his performance on American Idol would be strictly PG-rated, alluding to the controversy over his racy American Music Awards appearance last November. “I will be beyond family friendly,” Lambert said. “Relax and enjoy.”

The U.S. Justice Department approved a merger on Monday between Ticketmaster and concert promoting company Live Nation, paving the way for an entertainment conglomerate of unbelievable force in the market. The new merged company will be called Live Nation Entertainment and could change the face of the live music industry forever.

The $889 million merger between Live Nation and Ticketmaster received approval from the U.S. Justice Department on Monday. The two companies have faced serious criticism regarding the merger due to the near-monopoly the combined company could have over concert ticket sales. One of the major concessions in the deal to forestall such a monopoly was an order for Ticketmaster to provide access to its technology to Live Nation rival AEG Live.

Some are still not convinced enough concessions have been made to prevent the new Live Nation Entertainment conglomerate from taking a stranglehold on the live music industry.

“While we appreciate the efforts of the DOJ to extract meaningful concessions from the parties, we remain concerned that these two companies, with a history of anti-consumer behavior, will abide only by the letter and not the spirit of the settlement agreement,” said Sally Greenberg, executive director of the National Consumers League, according to MTV.com.

Ticketmaster and Live Nation argue their combined power will actually be good for customers, despite complaints they will drive their competitors into the ground. It will give us greater flexibility in how we promote market and sell tickets to events,” Ticketmaster CEO Irving Azoff told the Senate Judiciary Committee. “It will give us a pathway to alternative pricing and fee structures.”

We just feel bad for anyone trying to do business in the live music industry without going through Ticketmaster and Live Nation. No matter how much they might want to dismiss the ‘monopoly’ accusations and no matter how many ‘concessions’ they had to make to finalize the deal, a monopoly is pretty much what they’ve got at this point.

James Cameron‘s sci-fi epic Avatar is edging closer to becoming the highest grossing film of all time. The only movie that still stands in its way is James Cameron’s previous epic blockbuster, Titanic. Avatar topped the weekend box office for the sixth time in a row, easily taking home first place ahead of the competition.

Avatar scored another $36 million over the weekend, beating the heck out of Legion, which placed at number two with $18.2 million. The post-apocalyptic film The Book of Eli placed third with $17 million, with The Tooth Fairy and The Lovely Bones rounding out the top five.

So far worldwide, the estimated take for Avatar stands at $1.841 billion at the box office, compared to Titanic‘s record of $1.843 billion. Looks like a pretty good bet Avatar will probably overtake that global record. Avatar has already topped Titanic in overseas ticket sales, although it still trails a bit behind in the U.S. domestic box office.

Avatar won Golden Globe awards for best drama and best director last week and is heavily favored to receive at least a few Academy Award nominations on Feb. 2. If the film does receive an Oscar nod, the honor will more than likely result in another surge of earnings for the film at the box office.

We have to say that Avatar certainly is worthy of the title of a blockbuster film and a treat to watch. The sheer insanity of the film’s earnings, however, manages to keep surprising us. Now we’re just wondering if the sequel we know is likely on the way can even hope to come anywhere close to the original.

Former presidential hopeful John Edwards has finally admitted he is the father of former staffer Rielle Hunter’s 2-year-old daughter. Not that we haven’t already known that for the past two years. I mean, please, how stupid does this guy think the American public is?

After all, we were smart enough not to elect his lying, cheating ass to the highest office in the land.

In a press statement released Thursday, John Edwards admitted he is the father of Frances Quinn Hunter, daughter of former Edwards staffer Rielle Hunter. Edwards only admitted to the actual affair with Hunter after being hounded by the tabloids for months after his failed presidential bid. Before that, he denied he cheated on wife Elizabeth Edwards repeatedly, over and over again. The same way he denied fathering a child with his mistress, repeatedly and with fervent denial.

In other words, John Edwards apparently has a serious problem with the truth, even when it is shoved forcefully in his face. Even lamer, Edwards didn’t even bother to represent himself to the public in finally admitting to being the baby daddy. No, instead he issues a press statement and sends one of his buddies out to talk to the media about all the bullshit that’s spewed out of his mouth over the years. Rather than taking the lumps he deserves in the public eye, he subjected Harrison Hickman, his personal advisor, to suffer the pointed questions of the media on his behalf.

If John Edwards thinks hiding behind his buddy to try to tone down the media frenzy is going to help, he’s sorely wrong. Just wait until his former staffer Andrew Young appears for his ABC News interview next week. You know, the guy who posed as the father of Rielle Hunter’s baby on Edwards behalf and then turned on him to spill the beans about the affair? Yeah, we’re thinking it’s not going to be pretty…

We also can’t wait to hear the eventual findings of the federal grand jury investigating John Edwards for possibly paying hush money to Rielle Hunter out of his campaign funds to keep the affair (and resulting baby) quiet. Talk about ruining your whole life for a piece of tail. Who knew John Edwards and Tiger Woods had so much in common? Maybe Edwards could join Woods for some sex rehab therapy and they can cry on each other’s shoulders about the horror of actually having to try to be faithful to the woman you married and had kids with. We know that must just be terrible!

Fox has announced it will pick up a second season of the hit show Glee in an early renewal certain to please fans of the Golden Globe-nominated comedy. Fox will also begin a nationwide casting search to fill three new roles in the second season of Glee. Not only will Glee be returning for a second season, but lucky Glee fans can actually audition for a part on the show!

Auditions for the Glee second season will be open nationwide to amateurs and pros from 16 to 26. Auditions can be submitted only through www.fox.com/glee. We can’t wait to see some of these audition videos! The audition process will be featured in a multi-part special scheduled to air before the premiere of the second season.

“We’ve loved Glee ever since it was a pilot script, so it’s been an incredible thrill to watch the show take root and see audiences embrace these characters in such a huge way this season,” Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly said in a statement. “The show is a true and rare gem in television. We couldn’t be more proud of what Ryan Murphy and the Glee team have created so far and can’t wait to see what they come up with for Season Two.”

Glee was nominated for four Golden Globe nominations this year, including best television series, musical or comedy. Glee also earned a People’s Choice Award and was named one of the top 10 TV shows of the year by the American Film Institute.

New episodes of Glee begin airing on April 13 on Tuesdays. So don’t forget to tune in – and send in those audition videos!

The first Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows trailer is out and it’s looking fabulous! Yes, Harry Potter fans can rejoice. The very first look at the new Deathly Hallows film looks pretty damn good, even if it is woefully short. Hopefully this first look will be one of only many more to continue!

Warner Bros. released the first Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows trailer on Monday, as part of a short behind-the-scenes featurette on the film. Sadly, the new Harry Potter movie doesn’t actually hit theaters until November, 2010. The second half of the Deathly Hallows screen translation will follow in 2011.

Family Ties star Meredith Baxter came out as a lesbian Wednesday during an interview on the Today Show. Baxter was recently spotted on board a Sweet lesbian cruise and decided to go public to avoid further tabloid speculation about her sexual orientation.

In an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show, Meredith Baxter revealed she began having relationships with women seven years ago. Baxter said she has been with her current partner, contractor Nancy Locke, for the past four years and the couple lives “very out lives in Los Angeles.”

Meredith Baxter, known then as Meredith Baxter Birney,  starred as the matriarch on Family Ties for seven years and has been married three times. She has three children with former husband David Birney and two with former husband Robert Lewis Bush.

“I am a lesbian, and it was a later-in-life recognition,” Baxter told Matt Lauer. Baxter said her children has been very “loving and supportive” since she came out to them. The former Family Ties star said she doesn’t want to “be worried all the time” about hiding her sexuality and says she is “extraordinarily happy” with her life.

Poor Paula Deen. Here she is, trying to do something good for the community by volunteering at a food bank and what does she get as a reward? A frozen ham launched at her face by another volunteer. It was all an accident of course, but nobody wants a ham in the face.

Thankfully, Paula Deen was not injured by the flying ham. With typical good grace and humor, she laughed off the unfortunate incident, even joking about it on her Twitter feed.

You just know she’s never going to live that one down though. There will be ham jokes for years…

The premiere of Twilight: New Moon is just over a week away and the hype is reaching critical mass. While hottie Taylor Lautner finally gets his abs immortalized in a new Barbie doll, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart continue to fight off rumors they are an item off-screen as well as on.

Early reviews of New Moon, from those lucky enough to have scooped a screening, are so far quite positive. It looks like Twilight fans are in for a serious treat, with some proclaiming New Moon is even better than the first film. While we adored Twilight, New Moon is rife with tasty drama and we’re hoping the film will do it justice.

While fans wait eagerly for the New Moon premiere, they are snapping up every bit of gossip they can about the film’s stars. Including rumors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart recently shacked up together in a hotel room and got in some kissing time while attending their own New Moon screening. True or not, you can’t help but get a very nice mental picture out of that…

As for that other New Moon heartthrob, Taylor Lautner, we can’t help but wonder if he’s flattered or embarrassed by the newest bit of Twilight merchandise to hit the shelves – his very own Barbie doll! Yep, Jacob Black joins Bella Swan and Edward Cullen in having his own Barbie lookalike now available for purchase. If you haven’t seen it, you just have to check out the abs on this doll – hot!
