Conan O’Brien NBC Settlement Expected Soon
Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien and NBC are expected to reach an agreement of some kind very soon. O’Brien stands to take home millions of dollars in the deal, but so far he still hasn’t found a new network to call home. O’Brien rejected an offer last week from NBC to host The Tonight Show in a later time slot after the network announced they would be moving The Jay Leno Show back to late night.

ABCNews.com reports NBC and Conan O’Brien are close to reaching a settlement. O’Brien has chosen to leave NBC rather than agree with the network’s plans to shake up the late night line-up. O’Brien will reportedly receive over $30 million in a contract buy-out when he exits NBC. The sticking point in the negotiations, allegedly, is how O’Brien’s staff members will be treated regarding severance payments and contract buy-outs.
Conan O’Brien will host his last Tonight Show on NBC this Friday. O’Brien said in a press statement that the network’s plan to move The Tonight Show to 12:05 a.m. would “seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting.”
The new NBC late nigth line-up will air The Jay Leno Show at 11:35 a.m., in The Tonight Show’s old time slot. Conan O’Brien, meanwhile, is reportedly in talks with FOX to launch a late night show on the network, but nothing official has been said about a possible deal yet.
Meanwhile, the fued between Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien fans continues to flare, with fan protests breaking out nationwide. Conan O’Brien supporters, grouped under the “I’m with Coco” banner, plan to march on various NBC affiliates Monday to voice their displeasure.
