The sixth and final season of VH1’s series Mob Wives is well underway, so what better way to celebrate the series than by sitting down and hearing straight from one of the Mob Wives themselves? Gossip & Gab had the opportunity to talk with one of this season’s newest members, Marissa Jade! The Staten Island native is not only a reality TV star, but she is also a model, actress, and mother. Marissa sat down with Gossip & Gab for a quick interview about her career and the Mob Wives series.
GNG: How did you become a part of Mob Wives?
MJ: Staten Island is very small, everybody knows everybody. My boyfriend grew up with all the girls and once I got with him I guess everything kind of fell into place.
GNG: What is your relationship with the cast members?
MJ: The relationship is really through my boyfriend. He was really close with Renee’s father, he knew Karen’s family, and Drita was close with his sister. So when I came around I created my own relationship with the girls.
GNG: What was it like actually filming the show?
MJ: Everything was fine, very natural. I’m either gonna like you or hate you,so…ha. I mean, me and the girls just kind of vibed and went from there. I never felt out of place; they welcomed me with open arms the second I got there. Everything was pretty easy.
GNG: How did you juggle the show, your other jobs, and motherhood? Was it hard?
MJ: Well first and foremost, my son comes before everything and everybody. I’ve been in the industry for a while now, and I have a lot of family support. So if I had to do something that involves business I always have my mother or father to help me out. I have a lot of support, and my son’s used to me working and traveling.
GNG: Was your boyfriend supportive of you being on the show?
MJ: He was most definitely hesitant – anybody in this lifestyle would be. But he was very supportive of me and what I wanted to do in life. I wasn’t really coming on the show to glorify the lifestyle, but my boyfriend did have a past. And it was nice to share with the viewers about his past and the lifestyle he used to live. But he’s refined now!
GNG: When you look back, do you have any regrets?
MJ: No, I believe I handled everything appropriately. and I was very happy the way I acted this season, you know, I didn’t try to act tough or be the toughest Mob Wife, I always spoke the truth and stayed true to myself and others, my loyalty shows, I believe. But if you get in my face, I’m no nonsense. No need for it, but it’s there if you want to bring it. What you see is what you get. I don’t sugar-coat anything, and I always stay true to myself.
GNG: Are your relationships with the girls on the show different off of the show?
MJ: No, I belive I created a strong bond with most of the girls and we’re still in contact today. We hang out, we go out, we go away. It’s really genuine. It wasn’t just work-based; I really like them for them.
GNG: What other projects are you working on outside of Mob Wives?
MJ: I have several projects going on. I mean I’m always working, whether it be a commercial or print ad or something, but I’m trying to dabble more in the acting world – I have a couple of movies in the works. One surrounding my comic book called Destiny: Queen of Thieves. I was based as a comic character for a comic book and it was actually picked up to be a live-action film, and I will be the main character. We’ll be filiming it sometime this year and I’m really excited about it.
GNG: What kinds of projects would you like to pursue in the future?
MJ: Wherever the road may take me. I’m usually in the model world, but I would like to venture out and do something a bit different. I’m open to anything.
GNG: Any spoilers you can offer?
MJ: I wish I could but I can’t! Just know that you will be very well entertained. There’s never a dull moment when watching the show, I can promise you that.
