Gary Coleman Publicist Confirms Actor Had Seizure

GossipandGab.com was contacted by Emily Stephens, a publicist for Gary Coleman, after we published about his hospitalization Wednesday morning. Stephens told us by e-mail she was with Coleman when he fell ill. Coleman apparently did suffer a “slight seizure,” according to Stephens, and is “resting now at the hospital and doctors are monitoring his condition.”

Coleman’s rep also wanted to let us know part of the information going around about what Coleman was doing at the hotel in Los Angeles where he fell ill is not accurate. Some news sources have reported Coleman was at a promotional event for the upcoming DVD Midgets vs. Mascots. According to his Los Angeles publicist, Coleman was at the hotel in connection with the movie – but not to promote it.

“Gary isn’t promoting the movie Midgets vs. Mascots, Stephens stated in her e-mail to GossipandGab.com. ”He’s in LA to meet with the film’s producers to demand that an unauthorized scene be taken out of the movie.  Specifically, there’s a scene where Gary’s in a bathrobe and he’s exposed for a couple of seconds.  Clearly, he’s upset about it and wants it taken out of the movie.” We can certainly understand why Coleman would prefer to get that scene cut. Meanwhile, we hope he gets well soon so he can go whack those film producers about the head again as soon as possible.

Interestingly enough, shortly before we got the e-mail from Stephens, we received another e-mail from the digital marketing company Fanscape, which is apparently promoting the film. In the e-mail, Fanscape announced that Coleman was “meeting with producers about his upcoming DVD, Midgets vs. Mascots when he fell ill.” Well, they didn’t claim he was promoting the film, but they didn’t say he was blasting them over an unintended nude scene either.

The e-mail concluded with the bouncy, uplifting statement:  ”Now that we know he’s fine, I thought you might be interested in checking out a few clips from his movie — they are pretty ridiculous!”

The bathrobe scene, just FYI, was not included in the offered clips.

    Gary:

I was not aware that you were ill, but am glad you are doing better. Remember, God has His hand on you and will never give you more than you can bear.

What I was originally writing to you about was to ask you if you knew your great-grandmother. I saw this sweet little lady on”Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” that aired April 1. Her name was Vernilda Evans. She lives in New Youk and is a retired actress. What struck me was that before I looked at the TV screen I heard her voice and it sounded just like yours. She even favored you in looks and mannerizms.

I don’t pretend to know your business, but should my scenario hold truth, I thought you might want to know.

    You take care,
    Susan
