We loved Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones on Parks and Recreation and it looks like NBC loved them too, as they are bringing them back to NBC for new comedies! As amazing as that sounds, it is not as amazing as it could be. NBC has ordered comedy pilots from both Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones, which they will both serve as executive producers but not actually star in! Bummer, right?
For Poehler’s project, the show is untitled still and comes from writer Charlie Grandy (The Office and The Mindy Project). The show will be about Karl, who partied a little too hard in life and is the “black sheep” in his royal family. He returns home to compete for the throne against his brother.
For Jones’ project, the show is titled Good Fortune and comes from writers Craig Gerard and Matt Zinman (Telenovela). The will focus on a young woman that is very structured in life, but her life is thrown for a loop when she starts taking advice from a mysterious fortune teller.
NBC is trying to get back into the comedy world, as they have Undateable, Superstore and Telenovela currently on. Crowded and You, Me & The Apocalypse coming soon. Add in the Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones shows plus any other pilots they pick up and maybe we’ll have our Thursday night comedies back???
