When you find success, everyone wants a piece of it and that is what has happened with the “Call Me Maybe” lawsuit. Aza, a Ukrainian pop star, is suing Carly Rae Jepsen and her team over the use of the song “Call Me Maybe.” While it has been a smash hit for Jepsen, it seems that Aza thinks they stole it from her song “Hunky Santa.” You can check out both songs below and make the call for yourself.
In her song “Hunky Santa,” Aza uses the line “call me.” By no means does it even sound close to the lyrics of “Call Me Maybe,” but Aza thinks so. She told TMZ: “I’m shocked and surprised that these people wanted to sample my lyrics on their song. They didn’t ask me for permission, they just took it. That’s why I filed this lawsuit.”
Let’s take a look at both of the songs and the video done by Aza. She claims Carly Rae Jepsen ripped off from her song. All Aza is doing in her “Hunky Santa” song is being a whore. She is dressed in a bra and skirt and wants a boyfriend with a big, huge…heart. Then Santa proceeds to come out and take off his shirt and she tells him to call her. There is no mention about being crazy or just meeting you or call me maybe.
Clearly it is a Christmas song, so good timing on the part of Aza to get some publicity on her song, which is probably what this whole Call Me Maybe lawsuit is all about. Check out both songs below and give me your thoughts:
