Blink-182 Pays Tribute to DJ AM – VIDEO

In a moving tribute to friend DJ AM, Blink-182 band members bowed their heads for a moment of silence at a concert over the weekend in Hartford, CT. “Don’t know how I am gonna play 2night but I am for AM,” Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker posted on his Twitter account Saturday. “I’ll never forget everything we’ve been through and every time I play the drums, I’ll think of you… Rest in peace, my brother.”

“This is really hard for us on stage,” Blink-182 bass player Mark Hoppus told the crowd at the concert as the band took to the stage. “We are doing our very best to get through this show, but right now it’s very hard.” After speaking about their grief through abundant tears, the band shakily played a song dedicated to DJ AM before continuing the concert.

Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, was found dead in his apartment on Friday. Official autopsy results released this weekend showed no official cause of death, though a drug overdose is suspected due to evidence found at the scene. Police authorities investigating the death are now waiting on additional toxicology and tissue tests to make a final determination of how Goldstein died.

DJ AM and the band members of Blink-182 were long time friends. Goldstein often collaborated with the band. DJ AM and Blink-182 drummer were traveling together in 2008 when their plane crashed, killing four people and causing severe injuries to the survivors.

Some theorize DJ AM became addicted to painkillers he was taking following the accident, which led him to start abusing drugs again. Goldstein previously admitted he was a recovering drug addict, but recently claimed he had been sober for nearly a dozen years.
