One of my favorite The Voice season 3 auditions on Monday night was the quirky and original take of Britney Spears‘ “Toxic” performed by Melanie Martinez. I would have never imagined anyone singing “Toxic” by Britney Spears quite this way, but it was a really fabulous performance.
Personally I thought the Melanie Martinez “Toxic” video was one of the most fun The Voice season 3 auditions of the night. She really should have gotten a spin around from all four judges and I don’t really buy Christina Aguilera saying she didn’t want to compete with all three guys. I’m wondering if she just didn’t like having to listen to a song by (rival) Britney… but maybe I’m just reading between the lines too deeply.
Regardless, the Melanie Martinez “Toxic” performance on The Voice season 3 auditions Monday night was awesome and I can’t wait to see what she’ll perform next as a member of Team Adam Levine. I only hope that her very original and unique style and voice won’t limit her in performances to come. Really stylistic singers sometimes fail to do well because they can’t break out of their niche enough to engage a wide audience.

ugh. this girl is such a little brat. i knew her from high school and she’s so contrived and tries to act so unique and different. i don’t want to come off as a hater but i took a photography class with her and she was just so mean to me, for a silly reason. we disagreed about certain things and she just couldn’t stand me because of it, i guess.
in a random discussion between the students in our class, she said that girls who have sex before marriage are sluts and “gross” and that guys shouldn’t waste their time taking a girl “like that” out on a date or treating her right, that only the virgin girls in our high school deserved to be treated well by guys. her narrowminded views really weren’t something i agree with, and i made sure she knew it. so we really didn’t get along and she would always have an attitude with me and was just really mean.
