X Factor 2012 Drama: Britney Spears’ Former Duet Partner Says X Factor Forced Him To Come Out As Gay

You all saw Don Philip on The X Factor 2012 premiere. He was the guy that sang a duet with Britney Spears back in the day. He looked like a hot mess on the stage, as he broke down crying and was so happy when Britney recognized him during his X Factor Season 3 audition. The X Factor 2012 judges turned him down and then we saw the big breakdown backstage. He looked like a hot mess and our writer even said he needed help! Come to find out, Don Philip is making some big claims against X Factor 2012 and that they forced him to come out on stage!

Don Philip, who also sang backup for Gloria Estefan early in his career, talked with Access Hollywood about the incident and said he told producers beforehand that he had a secret that he was gay. He said he felt “bullied” onstage by the judges, which is what led to his poor audition and breakdown backstage of The X Factor 2012 auditions. Here is his statement:

“Backstage, I’d talked to the producers about what was my secret was. And I mentioned that my secret was I was gay, but I really didn’t want to talk about it on the show. So, minutes later when I got on stage, L.A. Reid said, ‘What’s the secret? What’s the secret?’ over and over again. And I had to say it. I just felt like they were going to say it so I felt like I needed to say it first. And I was just so emotionally distraught, I couldn’t pull it together to actually sing.”

Of course, there is footage that leaked of Don Philip coming out during his X Factor Season 3 audition. It shows somewhat of him coming out and Britney and Demi Lovato commenting on it, but there is no mention of L.A. asking him “What’s the secret?” Was he bullied or not?

During the airing of his audition, there is no mention of him coming out and FOX made him look kind of like a crazy person. On the X Factor 2012 editing, Philip said, “I didn’t do anything bad. They edited the gay out of me.”

As far as FOX goes with The X Factor 2012 editing, they said: ”While we understand his decision to discuss his personal life, Mr. Philip’s sexual orientation was not something that any of the judges or producers felt was relevant to this audition.”

So, who do you believe? Check out Don Philip’s audition as it aired on The X Factor 2012 right here. Forced him out or just a bad audition and he is trying to stay in the limelight?
