X Factor 2012 Season 2 Recap: Ep. 2 – Britney Spears Keeps It Real (VIDEO)

The X Factor 2012 premiere week continues tonight with round two of The X Factor season 2 auditions. The newest judges on The X Factor USA panel, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, have been stealing the limelight from veteran judges Simon Cowell and L. A. Reid. Britney Spears in particular has been keeping it real and may just rob Simon Cowell of his ‘the mean judge’ title.

Last night on The X Factor season 2 premiere episode, it was clear that new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were the real stars of the judges panel. New The X Factor USA judge Britney Spears enjoyed a whole montage of her snarky commentary to a handful of failed performers. Fellow newbie judge Demi Lovato also enjoyed her own extended spotlight moment during the last performance of the night, which brought attention to her compassionate work as an anti-bullying advocate.

Tonight, as the The X Factor 2012 season 2 premiere week continues, I’m hoping we’ll get to hear much more of Britney Spears keeping it real and Demi Lovato telling everyone how cute and adorable they are. Hopefully we’ll also see some more spectacular performances like my favorites from last night, Jennel Garcia and Jillian Jensen (who broke Demi’s heart and mine with her song).

So join us now for our The X Factor 2012 season 3 recap of episode 2 as the auditions continue in search of the next $5 million winner of The X Factor USA.

The first act up tonight in The X Factor season 3 auditions is rapper/singer Johnny Maxwell doing an original song. He has a good, positive vibe for this style of music and although he’s a little rough around the edges, he’s got something going on.

Judges: The judges like him a lot. L. A. says he is amazing. Britney thinks he is fun and will have a record deal coming for him in the future. Demi says he’s cute (of course) and he has swag. Simon says he was a bit concerned at the start but he got better and shows ambition. He is through to the next round.

Now we have our first horrid audition of the evening with Lexa Berman. I really don’t understand why some of these people don’t know they suck. I know I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. If I didn’t know, my friends would tell me (and have). Where do they find these people? Anyway, she is terrible.

Judges: Simon calls her Jersey Shore meets the Kardashians with no musical talent. Britney asks for the noise to please stop and tells her she is boring. Demi tells her she can’t sing at all and has no reason to have so much confidence when she is so bad.

Then we have some more bad performances that are just best left behind in the past where they belong.

Next up is Jason Brock doing “New York State of Mind” by Billy Joel and he is awesome. He is also seriously flaming but in a very cute way. He brings the crowds and most of the judges to their feet with a standing ovation.

Judges: Um, standing ovation, so it’s a yes. Simon abstains from standing but he gives his approval as well.

Here’s another terrible singer and this time he is doing terrible things to “Circus”. Insane Britney Spears fan Patrick Ford tells her how much he loves her over and over. She looks about to call the the police when he finally leaves the stage, devastated at his rejection.

Carly Rose Sonenclar, 13, is the next performer singing “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone. The judges (and I) are floored by the huge voice coming out of this little girl. The audience goes wild!

Judges: Standing ovation all around. They are tripping over themselves to praise the talent of this 13-year-old with the voice of a diva three times her age. Britney says everyone has to love this girl. L. A. says she is obviously an old soul. Simon says a star has been born on the stage tonight. Demi says she wants to go out and buy her record right now. Carly is on her way to the next round and she is going to be a serious contender!
