So You Think You Can Dance Live Recap: Top 4 Finalists Perform! (VIDEOS)

This is it tonight for the Top 4 finalists on So You Think You Can Dance 2012. They have two hours to prove to you, America, why you should pick up that phone and vote for them to win it all this season on SYTYCD 2012! No dancers will head home tonight, but we will see what you all vote next week in the So You Think You Can Dance Season 9 Finale!

Last week on So You Think You Can Dance 2012, we saw Witney Carson and Cole Horibe leave us. It was kind of an expected moment, but it still upset me. I think Cyrus Spencer is a great dancer in his genre, but he lacks the skills to dance other styles and I think it is sad that these other dancers have gone home before him. Yes, SYTYCD 9 is a popularity contest, but I still feel we should be voting on talent and skills, not just the likability. Cole was an awesome dancer and I wish he would have had one more week on the show.

Witney Carson was an amazing dancer as well, but I think she was up against some tough competition in Eliana Girard and Tiffay Maher. I knew Witney was headed home on So You Think You Can Dance 2012, but one can only hope. I enjoy both girls left, so either one of them can win, but I am praying people vote for Chehon Wespi-Tschoop and give the title to someone deserving of the crown!

Who is your favorite to win it all on SYTYCD 2012? Come back tonight for my So You Think You Can Dance live recap and let’s watch how they do together.

The So You Think You Can Dance 2012 Performance Finale folks…this is it! Cat Deeley looks good in red, right? The Top 4 will all dance five times tonight, so watch out! The judges tonight are Nigel LythgoeMary Murphy and guest judge this week is Rob Marshall. Things get started with Eliana and Cyrus, who are dancing a Paso Doble. Eliana looks good in everything that she does, but like I have said Cyrus is not that strong when it comes to technique. He does a decent job, but let’s pick the best dancer tonight folks! Nigel said Eliana has a magical combination of performance and technique and she has secured herself in this industry and Cyrus had to lower his shoulders and straighten his legs, but he was there for the rest of it. Mary said Cyrus delivered and he was masculine and Eliana was on fire tonight. Rob said Eliana has amazing technique, but she throws it away to tell the story and exciting for Cyrus to just let the moment happen.

Next up is Tiffany Maher, who is dancing with Will Wingfield from Season 4 and dancing to a Sonya Tayeh routine. I think Tiffany is a great dancer and has such good form. This was a good routine, but I didn’t feel the music and the routine mix very well. Mary said dancing like that will keep her in the game 100% and she was a star tonight. Rob said that Tiffany is so beautiful and extension and fearlessness. Nigel said her lines were tremendous tonight and her presence on stage is so strong.

Next up on my So You Think You Can Dance live recap are Eliana and Chehon, who will be doing a ballet routine and they are move out of practice when this rehearsal started. First of all, is there padding in those tights of Chehon or is that muscle and a nice package we are looking at??? This was a very elegant routine and nice to see them in their genre and excel. A standing ovation from the judges! Rob Marshall said he can’t believe their versatility and it separates the men from the boys. Nigel Lythgoe said Eliana makes it looks so easy and it is ridiculous to see these type of dancing on this show. Mary said it was a triumphant for the show and can’t believe she saw this in the finale of the SYTYCD 2012.

Up next on So You Think You Can Dance 2012 is Tiffany and Cyrus, who will be dancing a hip hop routine. This was an amazing routine and gave me chills! Tiffany is beyond amazing and deserves to win this thing. Cyrus did very good and I just loved them together for this routine. Nigel said they are both so good at emotional routines and they didn’t stop as a pair and they are both incredible. Mary said they absolutely killed it and Cyrus is hitting it so strong and so confident and Tuffany was a little beast up there. Rob said they both throw themselves into it and his favorite of the evening so far.

Next up on my SYTYCD live recap is a group routine, as the Top 4 take the stage together in a Tyce Diorio routine. It was quirky and weird, but good. I must say again, and I am harping on Cyrus a lot tonight but he just looked out of place up there next to them. He is no tWitch, but they are making him out to be and he doesn’t hold a feather to him in my eyes.

Let’s make a quick transition, as Eliana Girard takes the stage for her solo. We take a look at Eliana’s journey throughout So You Think You Can Dance Season 9 and then she hits the stage for her last solo performance. We all know it, she is a great dancer and this just confirms it. Both Tiffany and Eliana are so strong, so I wouldn’t be upset with either of them winning! Anyone agree?

Now it is time for Chehon Wespi-Tschoop to take the stage with Allison Holker, who are dancing to a Stacey Tookey routine. Wow is all I can say. Just watch the performance below and you will understand! Mary said are you kidding and this number is freedom and Chehon is so free throughout this whole piece. Rob said we were dying out here. Nigel said Chehon found himself with that partner and wow tonight.

Now it is time for the girls to dance together, as Eliana and Tiffany will perform to a Ray Leeper routine with a pole in the middle of the stage…love it! This was a strong performance and quite hot! The girls worked that pole and put on a great show and how in the hell did Eliana keep herself up on that pole at the end??? A standing ovation from the judges! Rob said he is just trying to picture Queen Latifah doing this and it was fierce. Mary said you two are extraordinary women and it was fun and sassy. Nigel said there is nothing he can say that won’t get him in trouble and it was fabulous.

Time for Cyrus Spencer to take the stage and perform his solo, which will be amazing of course. It is so great to see and very unique, but I want someone who can entertain me completely, not just for one solo routine! Anyone agree?

Up next is Tiffany Maher for her solo on SYTYCD 2012 and we find out that she had to do choreography after her initial audition, which was the only person in the Top 20 who had to do that. She is amazing and I love this girl. She impresses me more and more every week and she has won me over!

Next up are the boys, as Chehon and Cyrus take to the stage to a Sonya Tayeh routine. Sonya is a great choreographer and does an awesome job with this routine for the guys. They looked very good together and I enjoyed it. Nigel said he loved that Sonya choreographed this and she got them both to come up a level and Chehon is his favorite dancer this season and Cyrus is his favorite person this season. Mary said you guys have fought every step of the way and both have had a tremendous journey. Rob said dancers are so selfless and beautiful to each other and that was clear with this routine.

To give the Top 4 a little bit of a break, we get to see a special routine from Jean Sok, who is a one-legged B-boy, and it is absolutely amazing to see. He can do more on one leg than I can do on two, three or four legs…so great!

The last solo tonight for my So You Think You Can Dance live recap is from Chehon Wespi-Tschoop, who has been winning me over more and more each week and his personality is coming out a lot more. He is, by far, the best dancer for the guys, but will America vote for him and prove that fact?? Please do!

Next up are Eliana, who is dancing with Alex Wong to a Travis Wall routine. Another wow moment for me. Absolutely great routine and props to Travis for an amazing routine. A standing ovation from the judges. Rob said that was just poetry and there is nothing Eliana can’t do. Nigel said it was his favorite routine of the night and brings all of his favorites together and Eliana is his favorite dancer of all time on the whole series. Mary said it was spectacular and Eliana oozes passion from her body.

For their last routine of the night, Tiffany and Chehon partner up to a Ramba choreographed by Dmitry Chaplin. This was very elegant and hot. The chemistry was very much there in between the two of them and it was enjoyable to watch and man can Chehon lift these girls to the clouds! Mary said she didn’t believe in the chemistry, but the moves were there. Rob said thought they had some connection was quite beautiful and they didn’t oversell it. Nigel said this is so much sexier than the pole dancing.

The last performance of the night is from Cyrus Spencer, who is partnered with tWitch and they will be doing an Animation routine choreographed by Christopher Scott. Saving it for last, so we all know it will be amazing and they don’t let us down. This is a great routine and so entertaining. Cyrus can entertain, that is for sure. Standing ovations from the judges. Rob said that was crazy and they are two superstars. Mary said she loved it and this was amazing and they stole the show. Nigel said he loved it and they are both world class in what they do, but Nigel said he won’t be voting for Cyrus tonight because he has to vote for the better dancer.

  1. so you think you can dance , has always been the best reality show on the air to me. the judges were always fair, the comments helpful. I hope the next seasons top 20 dancer are traditional dancers. I was happy for the ones that won, however, the last show I didn’t think Cyrus would have a last dance. he worked so hard for the season 9 show. the guy that won was an awesome dancer, he took your breathe away. here’s the flip, so was Cyrus. not only is CYRUS an amazing DANCER but, an amazing person ( man ). way to go mom.

  2. I think, to say Cyrus not having years of training does not make him a daner is insulting. Many dances by the age of three or four are in studios and, a small percent of them will ever make it professonally. So, to make a difference between the dancers because of the years of training again is insulting. I’m sure You have experienced a dancer who was just gifted and, years of training was not available. That dancer was an amazing dancer in spite of it. Please guard your words, and my the best DANCERS win.

  3. I agree that it is a popularity contest and that sometimes the person who gets the vote may not always be the person with as much skill as other’s on the show. However, I think that Cyrus, having no training in other genres, has done exceptionally well. I think having personality is a big part of being a dancer. T
