In our Dallas 2012 recap last week, John Ross Ewing had Vicente Cano breathing down his neck to deliver the oil he promised him.  If John Ross goes down, the whole Ewing family could go down with him.  John Ross may not have to protect his girlfriend Elena Ramos from Marta Del Sol, but he may have to protect her from the Vicente crew if he can’t deliver the oil.  However, this could prove to be difficult because he was arrested at the end of our Dallas 2012 recap last week.

Last week’s Dallas on TNT revealed that Bobby Ewing’s wife, Annie, may not be showing her true self to him.  The end of the episode showed a picture of Annie and a baby girl.  What is Annie hiding?

On the new Dallas, Elena went to see John Ross before he was legally arrested.  He explained to her how he knew Marta Del Sol, but left out his affair with her.  The police had no surveillance of the hotel so the evidence against John Ross was very damaging.  He was spotted fleeing the scene of the murder.  John Ross remembered that Marta had a video camera in the room but concealed the information from the police.

Vicente came to see John Ross in jail and told him his time was up.  John Ross knew that Vicente’s crew had the video tape showing he left Marta’s hotel room while she was alive, but Vicente plans on pegging the murder on John Ross.  If John Ross points any fingers in his direction Vicente warned John Ross that his family would be the ones to pay for it.

Christopher struggles with being the adopted Ewing family member on the Dallas TV show.  His wife Rebecca reminded him that all he ever wanted as a child was for his parents to stay together and be a family.  He continued to struggle to find any emotion for Rebecca other than anger.  Christopher asked the sheriff to conduct a background check on her.  It came back clean and Christopher wants to trust her again and stop being angry.

While Rebecca’s relationship with Christopher is still on the rocks, she continued to make amends with his mother Annie.  Annie even extended her kindness to Rebecca’s conniving brother Tommy.  She offered to help him get a job at her sister’s ranch in Oklahoma so he could get a fresh start.  He accepted but seemed to still be up to no good.  Tommy reappeared and wouldn’t accept the fact that Rebecca is done with their deal.  The Dallas TV Show threw another twist when Tommy kissed Rebecca.  They are not really brother and sister and Tommy threatened to reveal the complete truth to Christopher, even though she just told Christopher there were no more secrets.

Vicente and his crew showed up on Southfork to talk to Bobby.  Vicente explained the lien he holds on Southfork and how he will take ownership of Southfork if he gets no oil.  Bobby countered by explaining how the deal Vicente made with John Ross is fraudulent, and how the mineral rights belong to him.  After Bobby kicked Vicente out of his house John Ross got beat up in jail as a warning from Vicente to get the oil from Bobby.

The family rushed to the hospital and Bobby knew that beating John Ross into hospitalization was a message from Vicente and insisted that they get John Ross out on bail.  Even though Christopher was mad at John Ross he didn’t want to see John Ross get hurt.  John Ross confessed that Vicente’s men said he would be killed if he doesn’t get oil.

John Ross also revealed that Vicente had the tape of his visit to Marta’s hotel room right before she was found dead and how was willing to use it against him.  John Ross showed visible remorse for being so desperate about drilling oil and felt bad for putting the family in this position.  Christopher decided to step up and make some sacrifices to save the family.

Christopher met with Vicente to give him an offer of a lifetime.  Christopher turned down Exxon when they tried to buy exclusive licensing rights to his technology that safely removes solid hydrates that contain methane.  This new energy source and technology is worth more than oil so Christopher offered Vicente exclusive rights to use the technology in South America in exchange for the footage of John Ross and leaving Southfork alone.

Sue Ellen also decided to cross the line in this week’s Dallas TV show.  She felt like she hadn’t helped John Ross out so she blackmailed the autopsy technician.  She offered him the chief medical examiner position upon her being elected governor and warned him that if he didn’t, she knows all about the extra prescriptions he writes.

However, her efforts were not needed because John Ross was released after the video was magically found on the roof of the hotel.  The charges against John Ross were dropped and he returned home to Elena.

Christopher helped John Ross because he realized they are not that different.  They both want to make their fathers’ proud.  Their relationship seems better than ever, but Christopher’s deal with Vicente and trying to get Southfork back may cause problems in the future.

Not buying Christopher’s sudden change of heart – he and John Ross have always been in this to make their parents proud but he realizes it tonight, sells off part of his company and shakes his rival’s hand? It’s just so unlikely (and Metcalfe’s acting is so wooden it’s impossible to derive any nuance from it). It also makes all the jail stuff feel inconsequential, instead of a huge, big deal. Someone died, but who cares? It’s all taken care of in 40 minutes!
