I’m heartbroken to say goodbye to the Bravermans on the series finale of Parenthood 2015. Parenthood Season 6 has been filled with up and down emotions, and I’m not ready for it to end. And I’m certainly not ready to see a Braverman die, as per Parenthood Season 6 spoilers. But ending we are, with a wedding and other Braverman decisions. Our recap of tonight’s episode of Parenthood 2015, the farewell season, is below. Grab your tissues and read on!
If you want to catch up on last week’s episode of Parenthood 2015, read here. You’ll enjoy Joel and Julia’s reconciliation, debate Adam and Crosby’s decision about The Luncheonette, cheer when Amber has her baby, and stress out along with Camille and Zeek as they decide whether or not he should have surgery. But enough of that. Let’s get on with tonight’s final recap of Parenthood Season 6, the series finale.
The first scene starts out with Camille, Sarah, and Amber all talking at once on phones to plan Sarah’s wedding. The new baby Zeek joins in with the noise. Adam, at his place, is on the phone, too, on a business call. Max bursts in to say that he was hired as the photographer for Sarah and Hank’s wedding. “I’m employed!” yells Max. Little Nora talks now, saying she prefers soda to water. Well, who doesn’t?
Back to the paradise that is Joel and Julia, they’re having a nice dinner with their kids when the phone rings. It’s Victor’s social worker, who wants to see them the next day. Scary?
Hank shows up to talk to Zeek at his place “man to man” to ask for his blessing, “symbolic” though it may be, Hank adds. Then he shares with Zeek that he has Asperger’s to some degree (his point?). He’s just being open, I guess. It explains some things, Zeek tells him. Zeek talks about how Sarah has always been about love and not material things. Getting emotional, he asks Hank to take care of his daughter. That’s “my honor,” says Hank. He will never stop loving her. Then the surprise news–the wedding is Saturday. What’s the rush? asks Zeek. Then he gets it. We all know what the Parenthood 2015 spoilers are saying, don’t we, about Zeek’s health? Sad.
Amber gets a visit–and presents–from Uncle Crosby and Jasmine. When Amber mentions going back to work at some point and taking the baby in the playpen, Crosby tells her that they’re shutting down the recording studio. Crosby gives excuses before saying that it’s Adam who didn’t want to do it. He gives Amber a check, but it doesn’t do much for her tears. I’m sad about it, too, Amber. I hate letting things go–like Parenthood 2015, for instance!
Music plays as Crosby walks through an empty Luncheonette. Dang. Adam is packing up stuff, and asks about Amber and how she took things. He seems pretty upbeat. Crosby lies, saying that Amber took things well. And he wants to read the dissolution papers before signing them. He’s pretty cold with Adam.
Kristina and Max walk through the rain with umbrellas, talking about plans for the wedding. He refuses to wear a suit. Mom says yeah, he will.
At the social worker’s place, she tells Joel and Julia that Victor’s birth mother wants to give up a girl baby she just had for adoption. Victor’s sister! And she wants to give them the option to adopt. Wow, I did not expect that. Wow, says Joel. Wow. Julia is speechless.
The two walk out of the building, shocked. Do they have room, asks Julia. I could build a room, says Joel. They agree that now isn’t the time to throw something else at the kids, and they have to work on their own relationship. Then they decide to give it the weekend to think about. Yeah, I think we know where this is going.
Hank shows up on campus to talk with Drew. He awkwardly (how else?) asks Drew to be his best man at the wedding. If he doesn’t do it, the UPS guy is who he will ask next. Does this end in a hug, asks Hank? Yep, says Drew. Yeah, your mom would be mad at me if I didn’t, replies Hank.
At Chambers Academy, Adam is having fun cooking with the kids. In walks Crosby as Adam is talking funny (think Saturday Night Live Hans and Frans) and making the kids laugh. Crosby smiles and gives big brother the signed papers.
Sarah visits big Zeek to show him pictures of baby Zeek. Zeek tells Sarah she’s his favorite, and she must know. She always got away with everything. Zeek tells her about Hank being the only guy to ever come to ask for Zeek’s blessing. Zeek thinks he’s Sarah’s guy. And Zeek and Hank respect each other. Sarah thanks Dad for letting her come home and stay for a while. That’s what led her to Hank. “Have I been a good father?” “The very best.” Yep, I saw that in the previews. And I still get teary-eyed. The two reach out to hold hands.
Photographer Max orders Sarah and Hank around for photos until the family arrives. Then Hank encourages Max to get natural shots of the family interacting. Good job, Max. “I learned it from you,” he ways. Hank tells Max that he learned a lot from him, too, but Max doesn’t get it.
Zeek and Crosby are happy that Sarah is happy, but Crosby can’t forget The Luncheonette. Zeek tells Crosby he’s more than capable of handling the job–even without Adam. So will it be revived?
Haddie‘s at the wedding–yay! She tells Max she misses her brother. It’s hard for him to make time for her with his busy photographer job, but he gives her some time. Haddie says she’s better for being his sister, and she loves him. He’s “weird and wonderful,” which Max tells her is contradictory. He takes a selfie at Haddie’s request, as he pulls away from Haddie’s kiss.
More touching, random, mostly unrehearsed photos ensue. I love these! Very touching. Hank’s daughter is there, too. And Jasmine’s mom. And Drew’s girlfriend. What was her name? Lots of hugs, kisses (Joel and Julia!). What a celebration! Is this show really going off the air? Zeek and Camille look on at everyone having fun, gathering for a family photo. They join in. Who’s taking the photo since Max is also in the shot?
The wedding begins with Zeek walking Sarah to meet Hank. Parenthood 2015 spoilers for Parenthood Season 6 say that the cast had a hard time, as they were shedding real tears in the final episode. Aren’t we all? It’s great to see Sarah so happy as she looks at Hank as he MAKES EYE CONTACT! Yay!
Time for a happening wedding reception with lots of dancing! Crosby asks wife Jasmine if she would believe in him if he were to run The Luncheonette without Adam. Well, yeah! Crosby is visibly pleased. So they dance!
Max takes more pictures, lots of Hank’s daughter and friend, Lynn. The girls hit the dance floor. It seems Lynn is drawn to Max. And maybe he is drawn to her. Kristina comes up to say how cute she is. He ignores Mom and follows Lynn with his camera.
Zeek and Camille sit down with an exhausted Amber. They announce they ordered a glider for Amber but don’t know where to send it. They picture her and baby Zeek playing in their back yard. They want her to live with them. She says no; she would ruin their “third act” of life. But it’s what they want, says Grandma. Done deal! She has to cook, though, says Grandpa. I guess favorite Sarah’s daughter is also his favorite grandchild.
Crosby shares his decision about The Luncheonette with Adam. Don’t think I’m nuts, he says, but here’s my plan. Great idea, says Adam. He’s very supportive. Crosby is happy about that and hopes Adam will get a job that makes him as happy as he was when cooking with those kids.
Best man Drew makes a toast at the reception. He’s glad to have Hank in the family and also mentions the new member, baby Zeek. He’s glad Grandpa is there, too, with them. To mama Sarah, he tells her that growing up, she didn’t have the time to focus on herself, and he’s glad she found somebody like Hank now. Lots of teary eyes all over the place, including Drew boy.
Hank wants to get out of there. He’s “crazy happy,” and never thought he would ever feel that way, but he would rather be alone with her on his wedding night.
Crosby dances with Amber and tells her about The Luncheonette. He is going to be the new Adam and wants her as the new Crosby. Partners–yay! She jumps up and hugs him.
Joel and Julia dance and think. What are they thinking? They never expected to adopt an older boy, but it all worked out–as they watch Victor dance with little Nora. Joel was up all night thinking about Victor’s little sister. “She’s already ours.” He wants to adopt. So does she. Cool! This is crazy, says Julia, but she loves ole Joel.
Max approaches Lynn. I can’t hear what they’re saying, but then they end up on the dance floor, to Adam and Kristina’s surprise. “He’s dancing with a girl!” says Mom. Aw, cute. Max can’t make eye contact, though.
Joel and Julia, with kids Victor and Sydney, pick up little sister at the hospital. Happy times. Adam appears to be getting a job with a natural spring water company. Amber and baby are in the rocking chair at home with Camile and Zeek. Then there’s Adam still having a blast with the kids cooking at Chambers Academy, with Kristina looking on, smiling.
Then Kristina sits down with Adam to “talk about this future.” He just accepted a job at the water company! She wants him full-time. He is so happy there! She sees he loves working there. She has grant money to help with his making enough money. He would take her job as Head Master Braverman, which she thinks is pretty hot. And she would work there some, too.
Camille, looking through Max’s wedding photos, calls for Zeek. She thinks he’s asleep, but he doesn’t answer. Oh, the Parenthood 2015 spoilers were right. He’s gone. We see the rest of the family at the ballpark, passing around the urn and spreading his ashes. Then they break for a game of baseball. Seems this is similar to an earlier Parenthood 2015 event with the family on the baseball field. Fitting.
Shots to Camille going to a shop, Chez Marie, with a suitcase–of her art? Then to Crosby running the studio with the song “Forever Young” being sung (as we hear it in the background throughout the rest of the show), with a pregnant Jasmine by his side. Fast forward to years down the road with Joel and Julia, with the baby a little older, and the kids getting a puppy for Christmas.
We see dinners in the future with Hank and Sarah and the kids–even Hank’s daughter, Ruby. Looks like Amber found a guy and has a new kid. Former beau Ryan comes in to bring little Zeek back home. Looks like he got himself together.
Oh–the baseball game. Loved seeing Max hug little sister Nora coming to home plate. Then we see Max graduate from Chambers Academy, taking his diploma from his dad. Max shows a lot of emotion this time, as he puts his hands in the air, looking at his smiling mom. Max sure came a long way through the six seasons of Parenthood.
Back to the baseball field, as the game ends with lots of smiles and hugs. I’m sure there are some tears in there, too.
Dang. It’s over. No more Parenthood. I thought the series finale of Parenthood 2015 was satisfying, but I’m still heartbroken that the Bravermans are no longer on the air. Oh, but I loved all the photos, scenes, and music at the end. What did you think of the farewell episode of Parenthood Season 6?
