Expect the Bravermans to spend a lot of time in the hospital tonight and the rest of the season with the ailing Zeek and the pregnant Amber. Get all the details of tonight’s Parenthood 2015 episode in our recap right here as we head toward the series finale of Parenthood Season 6.
Parenthood‘s 2014 winter break episode left us with some feel good moments, with Adam and Kristina working things out at the school between Max and Dylan, who finally gets across to him that she doesn’t share his feelings. Hank and Sarah draw closer, as Sarah shares, after hottie ex-boyfriend, Mark, comes to town, that there’s no place she’d rather be than with Hank. Julia insists that Joel sign the divorce papers, but they end the show gazing into each other’s eyes and kissing on the couch. Yay! But that Parenthood Season 6 ends on a scary note as Zeek wakes Camille to take him to the hospital.
So tonight’s Parenthood 2015 begins with the ambulance taking Zeek and Camille to the hospital. Music plays as the kids get the phone call at their respective homes. At the hospital, Camille tells them they’re not sure if Zeek had a heart attack or what. “Of course he’s okay; he’s your father,” says Mom.
Chaos as usual, as Adam gets a call about the recording studio’s alarm going off. He and Crosby send a police car. Adam then finds his scared mother crying in the chapel. She reveals her true fears, sharing that she doesn’t know if Zeek will make it.
A really pregnant Amber shows up and hugs her mom. Drew’s all stressed because his car won’t start. Back at the hospital, Crosby shares that someone did break into The Luncheonette. Someone comes out to tell Camille that the doctor will give her an update soon. So no news yet.
Hank wakes up to find Sarah gone. Sarah is grilling Julia at the hospital about spending the night at Joel’s. Julia admits they might be on the way back to getting together. Sarah gets a call from Hank, apologizing for not leaving a note. Hank wants to do something–bring food, whatever. Sarah says he could pick up Drew. Joel then shows up with a bunch of good coffee for the family. He wants to stay, and Julia is cool with it.
Hank picks up Drew from school. Drew asks Hank not to talk. It takes him a while to stop, but he does. LOL.
So the doctor says Zeek did have a heart attack, but he’s stable for now and is being sent to the ICU. They won’t be able to see him for a few hours, so Adam and Crosby go to check on the studio. Man, that place is a mess! Drums are gone, among other things. Dang . . . .
Hank and Drew show up. Hank seems uncertain as to whether or not he should stay. Joel’s here, he says. And maybe he should have brought bagels. He awkwardly tells Camille he’s sorry, as Sarah watches . . . . So he stays.
Crosby is freaking out about all the cool, vintage stuff they lost. Adam says they have good insurance. They need to focus on Dad, who will pull through, he says.
At the hospital, they remember it was supposed to be Amber’s baby shower night. Again, Hank tries to be helpful and make some calls, but Kristina will take care of it. Doc comes out to say they’re going ot make sure he’s stable before making a decision, but Zeek might need another surgery. It’s sure hard to watch them all go see Zeek, all hooked up to tubes. (Crosby said earlier their grandma is 94 and going strong, so come on, Zeek!)
Joel goes in with Julia. Julia has to tell the nurse he can go in because he’s her husband. Uh-oh. Some bell goes off, and here comes the crash cart. Scary stuff on the final season of Parenthood Season 6. Julia goes to the lobby to tell the family that they took Zeek to surgery. The family has a zillion questions for an overwhelmed Julia, so Joel steps in to explain everything calmly.
Hank tries to comfort Drew by telling him his grandfather will be okay. Drew says he doesn’t know and shares how he screwed up for telling his grandma about Zeek’s flight plans. A tearful Drew shares how Zeek has been a father to him more than his own father, and the “losers” his mother brings around. Oops! Hank shares his troubles about his daughter, how she has said she hates him, and how parents don’t hold onto that stuff. Hank takes Drew’s drink, and Drew laughs. Ha!
Adam finds out and tells Crosby that they are getting a larger settlement than expected. They could even sell out and have money left over. Crosby isn’t sure he wants to walk away from it, but it could be a “blessing in disguise.” He’ll think about it.
Camille comes out crying, telling her sons that Zeek is stable after the stints were put in. So finally it’s time for visitors. Camille and the four kids surround him. Zeek want them to stay, as he pulls Camille down to hug him. Then Crosby tells a funny story about his glory days to get everyone laughing. The doctor comes in to share that the stints were successful, but his heart isn’t very strong. He gets fluid in his lungs. Options are another surgery to fix the valve or to do nothing and run the risk of another heart attack, stroke, etc . . . . The doctor urges him to rest up, think about it, and then decide.
Jasmine finds Crosby to comfort him. He brings up the insurance money. They could have 20K apiece, after paying Amber severance pay. They could go on vacation, etc . . . . So what does Jasmine think? She asks Crosby. he says the idea of not having the stress sounds good. Jasmine says she will support Crosby whichever way he goes, but he has tried working for others, and he hated it. The Luncheonette was his dream. Well, good for Jasmine!
Drew sits down by Hank in the hospital. Hank points out that Joel isn’t even married to Julia, but he’s still the perfect husband. He knows what to do; he’s a good guy. Then Hank apologizes for going on, which he does when he’s nervous. He wants to be there for Drew’s mom; he doesn’t want to be “one of the losers.” Drew apologizes, saying he didn’t mean that. Drew says Hank is actually his favorite. “Your favorite loser,” says Hank. “I’ll take that.” Aw–pretty cool and funny exchange. Drew then thanks Hank for driving him and for being around.
Kristina then comforts her hubby, who is reading about heart stuff. He needs to relax. Adam thanks her for being there for him and the family, then asks about the Luncheonette deal. Kristina wonders how Crosby would feel. She doesn’t want him to throw it away, unless he wants to. He thinks he does.
Outside the emergency room, Sarah finds Hank. Sarah says he should go. But Joel’s here, he says, and he likes Joel. Hank wants to tell Sarah what he thinks about life, her dad, time, not being afraid, and they should get married. Sarah looks pretty shocked. He loves her (making eye contact), and he wants to spend his life with her. Sarah is speechless for once. Hank asks if it’s a no. They’ll talk about it later, they say. Hank tells a stranger that he just proposed, and it’s a maybe right now. (Dang, he’s funny without trying.)
Zeek apologizes to “Millie” that he has put her through that. He wishes they could go back a few years and have fun. We will again, she tells him. And they’ll talk about the operation. Zeek doesn’t want the kids involved in the decision, must the two of them.
Grandkids time, as Amber and Drew come in. Amber tells Zeek how good he looks. Then Zeek gets a hug and “I love you” from Drew.
Over a beer nearby, Hank shares with Joel about his proposal outside the hospital. “Good luck to us,” says Joel. Crosby and Adam are there, too, discussing what they’ll do with the money they get from the insurance settlement–like buying their dream cars. But then Crosby hits Adam with not wanting to cash out. He doesn’t want them to be broken; they’re partners! So will Adam go with it?
Sarah takes an exhausted pregnant daughter to her own little baby shower with the ladies of the family in the hospital dining room. A cool family tradition gift is the scrapbook with the pages of advice from each mother to Amber. Then Amber will fill up the rest of the book. Kristina advises her to “embrace those curve balls” that come her way. Julia points out her huge heart. Jasmine admires her independence, but the rest of them are there for her. Mom Sarah’s turn. “No matter what, I will always have your back.” Grandma Camille says “life is short,” so enjoy that baby. Okay, who else is all teary-eyed now besides me?
And there we go. Zeek and Camille dicsuss the operation next week. Julia and Joel, Hank and Sarah focus on their relationships, while Adam and Crosby discuss their different wishes about the recording studio. And we’ll recap this next Parenthood 2015 episode right here.
