Tonight we start off another season of MasterChef Junior season 3 and I am always surprised by the level of talent in these young people. This season will start off with 19 new cooks and in the end only one will win on MasterChef Junior 2015! Click here for a sneak peek of tonight’s MasterChef Junior season 3 premiere and keep reading to find out all the details!Tonight’s mystery box challenge will give the winner an opportunity to pick the pasta all the other contestants will cook with. This could be a huge perk if used properly and I am excited to see which of these young chefs get to take advantage of it! I can’t wait to see what this season of MasterChef Junior season 3 has in store, make sure you stick around to find out with me!
We start tonight’s episode off with the kids coming into the kitchen and seeing everything for the first time and they are all so excited to be on MasterChef Junior 2015! The kids on the show range from eight to 12 and they are all getting their white aprons, but they have to go and find them in the pantry!
After they all find their aprons, they get their first mystery box challenge which is to make a dish with the ingredients found under the box. The ingredients under the box are salmon, mango, broccolini, ginger, coconut milk, soy sauce, tomatillos and corn. They can also use milk, eggs and flour.
I can’t believe how talented these kids are, I wouldn’t know what to do with some of these ingredients! About halfway through, Kayla cut her finger pretty deep. I hope she is ok, the medic said it was a pretty deep cut but she is taking it rather well for only being 11.
She gets some bandages and she tells Chef Ramsay that she wants to keep going! Good for her! We are about to find out who the top three for this challenge are! The first dish they call is from Jenna, she made a coconut rice pudding instead of an entree with the salmon. Ramsay goes in for a second bite, he loves it.
The second dish they look at is Jack’s and it is pretty impressive according to the Graham. The third dish comes from Kayla, who cut her finger and still managed to make an amazing dish and Joe is very impressed with her turnover.
The winner of this challenge is Jenna, but then Chef Ramsay said “and….” then a commercial break. We will have to wait and see what he is going to add to this! He names all three of them as winners, so they all win this challenge and receive the advantage!
The advantage for tonight is that they all get to pick the pasta’s that the other chefs will use and they will not have to cook in the elimination challenge! They have decided that the other chefs will have to cook the pappardelle and some of the young chefs have already told us that they are nervous and they are all showing it.
The elimination challenge seems to be starting off well, until a couple of the young chefs start to get a little flustered. One of them, Parker, actually ends up burning his sausage and I’m not sure if he is going to be able to recover from this. We will find out after the commercial break!
Chef Ramsay comes over and tries his sausage and tells him that it tastes great and he feels better about his dish. Some of the others’ dishes sound amazing and I can’t wait to see what the judges think about their dishes! The judging is about to begin!
The first cook up is Andrew and he made a delicious dish according to Chef Ramsay, Joe tells him that this is one of the best pasta dishes he has had on MasterChef Junior. Rielly is up next and he is the smallest of the group and Graham tells him that his pasta is cooked perfectly!
AJ is up next and Joe is tasting her dish, he said that the pasta is a little uneven, but overall she showed a good effort. Jimmy is up next and Chef Ramsay said that his dish was absolutely delicious! Jianna is up next and she made a pesto pappardelli and Graham said that the pasta is unevenly cooked.
Quincy is up now and Ramsay said that his pasta is over cooked and his sauce is a little too spicy. Parker is up now and Joe said it needed more sauce and less meat. Philly is up and Ramsay told him that he needed some salt, it was a little bland.
Ryan Kate is up now and she is told that he pasta is made perfectly and her knife skills with the herbs was very nice! Now it is time to find out who stays and who will unfortunately have to go home tonight. Gordon, Joe and Graham are talking it over to figure it out and we are about to find out who they have chosen to keep!
Joe calls Philly, Jimmy, Jianna, Quincy, Ryan Kate, AJ, Andrew and Parker up to the front and Gordon tells them that there are three outstanding dishes from some of them. Jimmy, Ryan Kate and Andrew are in the top tonight, but that means that Philly, Jianna, Quincy, AJ and Parker are in the bottom and all of them will be going home, but they get to keep their aprons.
