If you couldn’t tell from the three exclamation points, but this news has me crazy excited! It has been announced that Finding Nemo 2 will finally be made. This is huge news, but it hasn’t been confirmed by Pixar yet though. Andrew Stanton, director of the original Finding Nemo, told Deadline.com that he will be directing the sequel. This just made my day!
Finding Nemo was a huge hit,earning over $867 million worldwide and is often hailed as one of the best Pixar films. It also help relaunch the career of my girl, Ellen DeGeneres. Albert Brooks and DeGeneres provided voice work in the original, but whether they return for Finding Nemo 2 is yet to be known. Although, DeGeneres has often commented on her show that she would love to do the sequel, so I am thinking we can count her in. If not, the movie will not be as successful!
Andrew Stanton has long wanted to make Finding Nemo 2 and told attendees at the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex Film Festival in May that he’d be interested in directing a sequel to the blockbuster Pixar film, but only if the story was right. They must have gotten it right finally, which is music to my ears! Stanton said at the festival: ”I’m sure you’ll see some other sequels of things as they grow because now we are not so blinded. It’s the originals that keep us really going and it’s the sequels that are like comfort food, and I think it’s the same way for the audience.”
Finding Nemo 2 would join a few other Pixar movies that have made sequels, including Toy Story and Cars and the upcoming prequel to Monsters Inc. Again, Pixar has not confirmed this story, but with a director in hand, how can they not make Finding Nemo 2?
