Tonight’s episode of True Blood starts the season 5 halfway mark. Though True Blood season 6 has been confirmed, that does not mean the producers are not going to trim some character fat this season. True Blood 2012 has been heavily character driven. This makes it almost impossible to follow all the storylines going on this season, but we do try!
WARNING: TRUE BLOOD 2012 SPOILERS AHEAD!
Please be warned this post contains True Blood 2012 spoilers for upcoming episodes True Blood season 5 Please do not keep reading if you do not want to know what will happen!

It was revealed this week that a couple characters will die this season. One of those True Blood season 5 deaths will happen on tonight’s episode. After last week’s episode it appears Luna or Sam is going to be the character to lose their life. It’s probably a safe bet that Sam will survive and Luna will die. That does not mean this may be the last viewers see of Luna, as last week’s episode showed the dead can always rise.
The True Blood Comic-Con trailer for the second half of the season implies that Luna and Sam both survive, but as stated, the dead can rise.
The Comic-Con True Blood 2012 trailer also shows that Sookie and Eric may not be as over as previously thought. She also might not be as done with Bill. The short clip released for this week’s episode showed Eric glamorizing Alcide and making him stay away from Sookie. So anyone wanting Alcide and Sookie to have a relationship this season may not want to hold their breathe. The Comic-Con True Blood trailer also shows Alcide taking his proper place as pact leader, but everyone is not happy about that.
The Comic-Con trailer also shows more of Sookie embracing her fairy side and Tara embracing her vampire side.
The Comic-Con trailer and the episode trailer focus heavily on Russell’s full return. It looks like Russell will be causing havoc and up to his old tricks in no time on True Blood season 5. Though clearly Sookie is his main target at first, he’ll eventually just get back to doing things the Russell way. It doesn’t look like Eric and Bill will bring him in so easily.
The trailer also focuses on the evolution of Jessica. She’s really enjoying her new found vampire freedom, which is a big departure from where she was in the beginning of the series. But the new Jessica is not without angst. Though it seems like she’s sticking to her free agent commitment, it appears she is still caught in a love triangle with Hoyt and Jason. This is interesting as it seems Hoyt has become completely reckless this season and continuously puts himself in danger, but at the core he’s still the mama’s boy gentle heart guy the True Blood fans have come to know. Or is he? Could Hoyt get a darker side this season?
On the other end of the triangle spectrum is Jason. Jason is really evolving this season from the sex craved dumb brother of Sookie. Not only is he actually becoming a respectable police officer but he’s looking for a relationship deeper than sex. As the short clip released this week and the trailers show, seems like he’ll be becoming more of a vampire hunter this season. Him becoming a vampire hunter could be good for Jason, because his character will get new levels of depth he hasn’t had in previous seasons. This could be bad for Jason because he may join forces with the sick group wearing presidents’ masks that tried to kill Sam, Emma, and Luna. It could also destroy any chance he had for a relationship with Jessica.
The trailers also show more exploration of the Vampire Authority and Terry’s fire demon storyline.
