The True Blood season 5 premiere is tomorrow night and we’re already crazy with anticipation about what the new season will hold. From already released scenes and hints about the season premiere it’s going to be filled with lots of surprises and things we cannot wait to see (like the rumored bromance of Sam (Sam Trammel) and Alcide (Joe Manganiello).
WARNING: TRUE BLOOD SPOILERS AHEAD!
Please be warned this post contains True Blood spoilers for the previous season, True Blood season 4 Please do not keep reading if you do not want to know what happened!
***************************************************************************************
The season ahead may be True Blood’s best season yet, especially with the return of Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare), who is probably True Blood’s best villain, and the introduction of new possible villain and authority leader, Roman (Christopher Meloni). Last season completely changed things for many of True Blood‘s characters, so all bets are pretty much off for season five. So let’s look back where we last left the Bon Temps residents by looking at some of the big moments from season 4 of True Blood.
Lafayette finds and loses love
After a really heartfelt and honest relationship, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) loses his boyfriend, Jesus ( Kevin Alejandro) to crazy Marine (Fiona Shaw) as she possesses Lafayette. If that wasn’t bad enough wait until Lafayette discovers what happened to Tara (Rutina Wesley).
Tara dies?
As Alcide’s crazy werewolf ex-girlfriend, Debbie (Brit Morgan) storms in Sookie (Anna Paquin)’s house with a shotgun aiming it at Sookie, Tara took the bullet. It doesn’t look good for Tara, and, in many ways, it seems fitting for Tara to finally be free from the torture of the supernatural through death. But this is a supernatural show, so she might not escape the madness that easily.
Nan (Jessica Tuck) thought she could easily blackmail the two into joining her against the authority. They had other plans and killed her. This could be their best move, or the one to ultimately lead to their death. Either way, it’ll be intriguing to see how long the friendship between Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) last, considering they both love Sookie.
Sookie choses no one
Sookie makes a pretty big step towards independence after the season where Sookie and Eric finally had a chance for love, but she couldn’t get over Bill that easily. So can Sookie finally swear off vampires for good? Will Alcide finally have a chance with her? Will a new supernatural creature emerge to steal her heart? Or in a completely unexpected move for female empowerment will she go a whole season being single? Probably not.
Jessica choses Jason over Hoyt
Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) started to feel like Hoyt (Jim Parrack) loved her too much. He was just too nice, too safe, and their relationship began to feel boring. After rescuing Jason (Ryan Kwanten) from the werepanthers they began developing feelings for one another, then having lots of sex. Maybe this relationship will finally be a normal one for Jason, dating vampires worked out for Sookie, right?
Tommy dies, Sam seeks revenge, and Alcide kills a werewolf to save Sam
It’s been a crazy season for Sam. He found love with Luna (Janina Gavankar) only for his brother, Tommy (Marshall Allman) to shapeshift into him and sleep with Luna. Then Tommy used his shapeshifting powers to confront Luna’s ex and father of her child, Marcus (Dan Buran) and save Sam, but resulting in his death. Once Sam found out what happened he took on the werewolves and Marcus. Sam chooses not to kill Marcus, but when Marcus tried to kill Sam, Alcide kills Marcus. So this probably makes Sam and Alcide enemy number one with the werewolves.
Other Things That Happened
Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) became addicted to V, and found romance with waitress and wiccan Holly (Lauren Bowles).
Arlene (Carrie Preston) spent most of last season scared her baby was evil, like her ex-serial killer boyfriend, Renee (Michael Raymond James) only to discover that the baby is probably just a baby. But her boyfriend Terry (Todd Lowe) may show a darker side in season 5.
Russell is back and the new authority is coming.
Oh yeah and Sookie found out she’s half fairy.
True Blood season 5 will for sure be a great season, but what cliffhanger are you dying to see resolved on the season 5 premiere?
