Duets TV Show 2012: Episode 3 Live Recap – Songs That Inspire

It’s Thursday night and you know what that means…it is time for Duets TV show 2012!!! After two weeks of seeing the Duets TV show 2012 amateur singers try to prove themselves onstage, one of them will finally be sent home tonight…who will it be???

The Superstars (Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, Jennifer Nettles and John Legend) are back on Duets TV show 2012 and will be singing songs that inspire them tonight with the Duets 2012 partners. At the end of the night, the bottom two singers will sing for their lives in hopes of lasting one more week on Duets TV Show 2012.

Opening the show tonight at Jennifer Nettles and John Legend, as they sing “I’ve Got The Music In Me” by Kiki Dee Band. Is it just me, or did Jennifer Nettles not look damn sexy during that performance?

After a look back at last week’s performances, we get to see our first performance of the night on Duets TV show 2012. Up first is Robin Thicke and his Duets 2012 partner, Alexis Foster. Tonight they will be singing “Killing Me Softly” by The Fugees. For the first time, I fell in love with Alexis. I think this was a great song choice by them…they sounded great together and Alexis has some chops on her…get it girl! John Legend said her voice sounded great…it was well done. Kelly Clarkson said there is something awkward between you and Robin. Jennifer Nettles said I definitely see some growth from the last performance. Of course, after one performance Alexis is first in the standings.

Up next on Duets TV show 2012 is Jennifer Nettles and her partner, John Glosson. They will be singing “How Great Thou Art” sung by Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill. On this day, John’s mother found out she was pregnant and the very next day his older brother passed away. This song holds a special place for him and his family, so bring on the tears.  John starts it out singing a capella and does amazing. He has such a powerful voice and this is such a great duet…so much emotion. Kelly Clarkson said she is secretly trying to figure out how to get you kicked off the show because you are so damn good…great job. Robin Thicke said he was definitely thinking about his family…definitely made me feel it when you sang that. John Legend said you all sounded so beautiful together and a great arrangement. The new standings are John Glosson and Alexis Foster.

Hitting the stage next on Duets 2012 are Team Kelly, as Jordan Meredith and Kelly Clarkson sing a Miranda Lambert song together. Kelly Clarkson sees a lot of herself in Jordan and she needs her to bring out the sass tonight. She isn’t lacking in her voice, but in her stage presence. The song tonight is “Mama’s Broken Heart” and Jordan works the stage and Superstars. She seemed a lot more confident tonight and sings very well. John Legend said he loved all the energy she projected and carried herself as a star…such a dramatic improvement. Robin Thicke said she looked tasty as pie…sultry and sexy, a whole new person. Jennifer Nettles said she loved it…she could hear her on that song…you grew in this performance. The new standings are John Glosson, Jordan Meredith and Alexis Foster. With those new standings, John Glosson is safe tonight!

Next up for Duets TV show 2012 are John Legend and his partner, Meleana Brown. They will be singing “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keyes, because it inspires her to enjoy what we have today…she is living in a whirlwind. Three things… Meleana is beautiful, she can sing and John can sing…such a great performance! She hits some great notes and John compliments her very well. Kelly Clarkson said it seems like you all have been singing together for a while. Jennifer Nettles said when you go into those big notes I love it. Robin Thicke said she is wonderful and a great song choice. New standings: John Glosson, Jordan Meredith, Meleana Brown and Alexis Foster, which means John and Jordan are safe tonight.

Next up…Robin Thicke and Olivia Chisholm. Tonight, they will be singing “Crazy In Love” by Beyonce and Jay-Z for Duets 2012. Olivia is worried because she was in last place last week and needs to let her nerves go and shake that booty! I loved it…Olivia worked it and let her nerves go. She sang it well and had fun on the stage…very enjoyable. Jennifer Nettles said it looked so much fun…you sounded great…I’m blown away. Kelly Clarkson said I loved that and you sounded bigger and bolder and I can’t wait to hear your album. John Legend said your legs…it felt like a whole ‘nother person from last week. New standings: John Glosson, Jordan Meredith, Meleana Brown, Olivia Chisholm and Alexis Foster.

Up next on Duets TV show 2012 is J Rome, singing with Jennifer Nettles for Team Jennifer. They will be singing “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” by Michael Bolton and he is dedicating this performance to his grandfather, who passed away recently…again, bring on the tears. This is a great song choice and a great duet. They both showed so much emotion and blended very well together. J Rome has an amazing voice…he breaks down at the end of his performance. John Legend said what can I say after that…such a phenomenal vocalist. Kelly Clarkson said Team Kelly is rooting for you…you’re so good. New standings: J Rome, John Glosson, Jordan Meredith, Meleana Brown, Olivia Chisholm and Alexis Foster.

Up next for Duets 2012 is Jason Farol and Kelly Clarkson for Team Kelly. His family wants him to focus on school, so Jason is nervous to fail at this and have to go back to school. His father joins him during rehearsal and gives him some more confidence. Tonight, they will be singing “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Jason shows so much emotion tonight. This was a great vocal performance from Jason…he took control of the duet and didn’t let Kelly overpower him. I loved it! Robin Thicke said his dad wanted him to be a dentist, so he understands…you belong up there. John Legend said I think that was a great song to show off your tone…sometimes you have to pronounce your words more clearly. Jennifer Nettles said I love your connection to it. New standings: J Rome, John Glosson, Jordan Meredith, Meleana Brown, Olivia Chisholm, Jason Farol and Alexis Foster. So, Alexis will definitely be in the bottom two tonight for sure…who will join her?

Last singer of the night is next…Bridget Carrington. Bridget and John Legend will be singing Gladys Knight, which is Bridget’s fathers favorite song and she is dedicating this performance to him. They will be singing “Heard It Through The Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight. Talk about a great performance…it was fun, upbeat and enjoyable to watch. Beyond that, Bridget can sing! Robin Thicke says you did a good job. Jennifer Nettles said you had the attitude of this song. Kelly Clarkson said you started out a little low, but you are so comfortable and fun to watch.

Final standings for the night:

  1. J Rome
  2. John Glosson
  3. Jordan Meredith
  4. Bridget Carrington
  5. Meleana Brown
  6. Olivia Chisholm
  7. Jason Farol
  8. Alexis Foster

That means Alexis Foster and Jason Farol will be singing for their lives next on Duets TV show 2012. Jason Farol sings “Me and Mrs. Jones” and he works it out. He sounds very confident during his performance, even with all the pressure he is under. Now it is time for Alexis Foster, as she sings “Natural Woman” and she works it out as well. I feel her song is harder to sing a capella, but she has some good range in her vocals. Robin Thicke said no matter who goes home, never give up on your dreams. Now, all four Superstars enter a final score for Jason Farol and Alexis Foster and we find out who goes home tonight…who do you think it will be???

We are at the end of the road for one of our Duets TV show 2012 amateur singers…who do we says goodbye to tonight? After the Superstars vote, the person leaving us tonight is…Alexis Foster, so Jason Farol is safe for at least one more week. Robin Thicke says he is going to take care of Alexis, no matter what.

Comments

  1. It appears to me that certain stars select songs that emphasize their own voices versus the contestant’s voice. Is that the goal? If so this whole thing is an opportunity for the stars to self-promote.

  2. Anonymous says:

I have to disagree with everyone regarding John Glosson. His rendition of “How Great Thou Art” appeared to be a long drawn out GRUNT FEST. It seemed that with every emphasis at the beginning of every phrase he had to raise his shoulders and grunt it out. THIS IS NOT DRAMA NOR IS IT EMOTION. It is just a poorly thought out presentation with too many “rests” between words. And, considering Who he was singing it to (our Heavenly Father Himself), John should have been raising his hands in praise and worship.

  3. Smellykelly says:

I’m getting sick of Jason. He needs to man up. I watch this show STRICTLY for my one and only idol Kelly, but I may not even root for him. He’s just annoying like a whiny little girl.

    • I’m actually GLAD Jason won. I come from a background he does and it is d*** hard to go up there against your parents’ will. If he has the cuts to share his story in front of an audience of MILLIONS, he deserves a chance.

  4. Vincharr says:

What happened to the Black guy that performed with John Legend week 1?

  5. Too much echo in the theater, and the stars drown out the contestants!!
