Something about Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) with Jake Johnson (New Girl) screams indie orgasm in the best kind of way. Safety Not Guaranteed follows the story of three writers who answer a wanted ad for a time traveling partner. I talk a lot of crap about a lot of different things, but I actually really did love the trailer and I’m really excited for the movie.
You can easily see Ms. Plaza’s character having some similarities to her character on Parks and Recreation, April, which is probably part of the reason I’m so excited. Her dark humor tickles me just the right way.
The movie seems like a really light comedy that has the potential to turn into a tear-jerker. Weirdly, the movie is based off a real wanted ad from the 90′s. I’m curious to see what the real writer of the ad is going to say about the movie and I hope I see him in line on June 8th, 2012 along with many of you.
