After the abrupt firing of Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger last season after The X Factor U.S. ended its first run, Simon Cowell and the Fox network had to pull out the big guns… they definitely did that in spades when they announced earlier this month that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will be filling those empty chairs on X Factor 2012.
All the Britney Spears X Factor-hype came full circle yesterday, as Britney Spears and Demi Lovato made their debut as judges for The X Factor 2012. They joined Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid at the judges table for the audition tapings in Austin, TX. They listened to 31 singer and group auditions during their first day of tapings.
Britney Spears seems to be filling the role of Paul Abdul very nicely, as most of her critiques for the X Factor 2012 auditions were on the nice side. She told one X Factor 2012 auditioner that he “could be bigger than the next Justin Bieber.” Britney Spears X Factor 2012 attempt to be mean: she told one singer, “I think you need to find someone to teach you to sing better.”
There was some drama involved with Britney Spears though. Rumor has it she walked out during the X Factor 2012 auditions and missed four of the acts auditioning. While this may be true, Britney Spears tweeted to pour some water on the flames: “#Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!” Believe her?
Demi Lovato, on the other hand, had no problems breaking in her new X Factor 2012 judging chair, often throwing jabs at Simon Cowell about his age and flirting with the male contestants…work it girl!
