For the American Idol 2012 results show Thursday night, making a prediction about who would go home this week seemed easy enough, but we know how unpredictable those voters can be. Still, the most difficult part about making American Idol predictions this week seemed to be trying to figure out which guy might possibly end up in the bottom two.
So who got voted off American Idol 2012 this week in the end? Was it the girl who has been in the bottom week after week? Or did the voters do something totally unexpected when they reached for their phones last night? Read on in our live American Idol 2012 elimination results show recap and find out!
WARNING: AMERICAN IDOL 2012 SPOILERS AHEAD!
Please do not continue reading if you do not want to know what happened on the American Idol 2012 elimination results show on Thursday night and do not want to know who got voted off American Idol this week!
*****************************************************************
Most of the American Idol predictions out there for the top 3 elimination results show seemed to lean pretty heavily toward Hollie Cavanagh finally going home this week. After being in the bottom two more often than any other contestant this season, most of the fan polls and predictions just seemed to conclude her time was finally up.
The voters, of course, could fool us all and suddenly decide in mass to defy all predictions and put Hollie Cavanagh through to the American Idol 2012 top 3 but it would be quite unexpected if they did. Hollie Cavanagh’s voters may be rabid fans, but I just don’t think they can out vote Phillip Phillips‘ tween base or Joshua Ledet‘s soul lovers. There is always the chance that all of Skylar Laine‘s fans might suddenly vote for Hollie Cavanagh and throw things all to hell, but I just don’t see it happening.
In my American Idol 2012 predictions for this week, I thought it would finally be time for Hollie Cavanagh to go at last, which seems to be the general prediction for this week. However, figuring out who was going to be in the bottom two with her was a much more difficult task.
Considering the extremely strong and wide fan base Jessica Sanchez enjoys and how crazy they are about voting since she somehow ended up on the bottom that one time, I very much doubt she has anything to worry about this week. If she doesn’t make it all the way to the final two, I would be very shocked. I’m actually pretty sure she’s actually going to win this thing whether I like it or not. I could be wrong though. I certainly did not think Jermaine Paul was going to be The Voice 2012 winner this year.
Left to choose between the two guys, Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet, I tend to want to think it will be Phillip Phillips in the bottom two this week. However, he does have that strong ‘tween’ fan base support, so that could possibly push him out of the bottom, pushing Joshua Ledet down there with Hollie. Either way though, I still think it will be Hollie going home. Will she somehow get saved again against all odds? Well, let’s move right along to those American Idol 2012 results for the top 4 elimination show!
Opening the show tonight we have the American Idol 2012 top 4 singing “California Dreamin’” by The Mommas & The Papas. American Idol alumni David Cook and judge Jennier Lopez will be performing tonight as well.
Host Ryan Seacrest calls up Phillip Phillips first. Jimmy Iovine thinks Phillips really came into his own last night and was magnficent on “Volcano” last night. He says if he had seen that in a club, he would have signed him right away. So, if Phillip Phillips doesn’t win American Idol 2012, will Jimmy Iovine sign him and make that statement not BS?
Instead of telling us anything about Phillip’s fate, Ryan Seacrest weirdly then sends him back to the couches to wait to find out his fate later. Fake out.
Hollie Cavanagh comes out to center stage to find out if she is in the bottom two or if she will get another miraculous pass this week. Jimmy Iovine says “I Can’t Make You Love Me” last night was terrible and she crashed and burned, but “Faithfully” worked out for her.
More fake out as Ryan sends Hollie Cavanagh back to the couches to wait too.
One of my favorite Amerian Idol winners hits the stage next, David Cook with his new single “The Last Song I’ll Write For You.”
Joshua Ledet is brought up on stage next. Jimmy says he thought “You Raise Me Up” was not the best song choice for Joshua on American Idol last night and it let him down. However, he thought Joshua’s second song choice “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” was a brilliant and captivating piece of magic and he just wants to watch it over and over.
Now Joshua is sent back to the couches as well! Grrrr…
Jessica Sanchez is next to the center of the stage. Jimmy Iovine says he thinks Jessica’s first song had too much old tricks, but on the second song she brought everything and murdered it; it was shock and awe.
Jessica has bent sent back to the couch as well and all of the top 4 are now sitting together.
Now we have another performance to interupt the results and keep us waiting as Jennifer Lopez hits the stage. She is promoting her new tour with Enrique Iglesias and grinds out her new single “Dance Again” with boy toy boyfriend Casper Smart.
Finally we have some results! It looks like the first person declared safe this week is… Jessica Sanchez! Not a big shocker there. We are also getting a second person declared safe by the voters this week… Joshua Ledet! It will be Hollie Cavanagh and Phillip Phillips in the bottom two.
Here we go, the final result! Who got voted off American Idol 2012 this week? Scroll down to find out!
SAFE
- Joshua Ledet
- Jessica Sanchez
BOTTOM TWO
- Hollie Cavanagh
- Phillip Phillips
VOTED OFF AMERICAN IDOL 2012
- Hollie Cavanagh

Actually there wasn’t a bottom two announced. Just because Phillip was brought up on stage last with Hollie doesn’t mean that was the bottom two. My impression is Ryan is dispensing with that now.
I absolutely adore American Idol. My favourite all-time contestant has to be Adam Lambert – what an amazing voice!
Thinking about what the last poster said, I believe that in 6 of the 10 Idol seasons, the right person won the contest.
Isn’t it great to pick these KIDS, that what they are is KIDS apart? I mean after all, all of you guys have such big careers in the music industry. Dude I’m Canadian and I love to watch Idol…I have since the 1st show. But this is saddly not a singing compition…it’s popularity contest and 9 times out of ten the wrong person wins… good luck to you all!!!
Cheers
R.
Music shows our diversity. I love both Phillip and Joshua. Jessica has a beautiful voice but I like “performers” and she isn’t there yet. Love her voice though. I don’t care that Phillip doesn’t have the best voice love to watch him perform. His 2nd performance last night was great. Joshua is purely soul. I didn’t particularly like James Brown but really like Joshua. That said Daughtry and Cook are my favorites. Cook needs more variety and the right song and he could soar. My 2 cents is that Phillip or Joshua win. But I agree will probably be Jessica.
oooppsss… hollie got voted off.
The best Top 3!
Hollie needs to find some confidence and a niche to fit in, she’ll be fine. Finally, the guy with too many Phillips in his name is in the bottom TWO! He’s got to go. To me, Hollie looks more like an actress than a singer. She does look like Jodie Foster and Cheryl Ladd.
same here, Glen. enough already of those nerve wracking results
you never know what will happen tonight…i can sense that there is a suprise!!! I hope not.
Scotty, maybe. He is good, though.
Phillips finally sang a song that was mostly on key, but it was boring, and still sounded like a Dave Matthews rip off, vocally. Joshua was the usual screamer. Can’t he do anything without going into hysterics? I detest “music” like that, can’t even listen to it, but then, I can’t stand the one dimensional James Brown, either. If either of those guys wins, look for huge failures, just like the rest of the guys
that have won. Quick! Name ONE guy who’s won American idol who’s having huge hits right now.
Daughtry doesn’t count, he didn’t win.
