Because of the lack of programming this summer on FOX, I guess they will be running back-to-back episodes of MasterChef 2013 Season 4 all season long. I think one episode is enough for me and I don’t want an overkill of Master Chef Season 4 and I also don’t want MasterChef 2013 to end that quickly. The Top 16 home cooks became the Top 15 earlier tonight and now it is time for the Mystery Box Challenge and the Elimination Test on Master Chef 2013. Watch along with us during our MasterChef 2013 Season 4 Live Recap and see who was eliminated on MasterChef 2013 tonight with us!
In the first hour of Master Chef 2013, we saw the teams head to City Hall in Pasadena and cook a meal for 101 firefighters! It was banquet style, so all meals had to be served at the same time! Bime was the leader for the Red Team and he took a no-hands approach to leading them and that failed big time. Chaos led to a loss in the challenge for the Red Team and they faced the Pressure Test, which was to make the perfect Eggs Benedict. Some shined, but not Kathy, Luca, Natasha and Beth and were sent to do a team challenge tonight!
The challenge: they have 60 minutes to work together and make a burger at Gordon Ramsay’s Burger Restaurant. Chef Ramsay will expedite the burgers. Kathy and Luca are partnered together, with Luca as the leader. Beth is the leader for the Blue Team and Natasha is letting Beth make all the decisions, so if they lose then she can blame it on Beth!
Three minutes to go before service and the Blue Team still doesn’t know if they will serve an egg on it. Natasha decides she doesn’t want to lose and makes a decision to get rid of the egg and go cheese. They serve a Beef Burger with Prosciutto, Goat Cheese, Arugula and Aioli. The Red Team will serve a Beef Burger with Caramelized Onions and Arugula.
Prep time is over and the orders start coming back on MasterChef 2013 Season 4. The teams will serve at the same time and when one teams puts food in the window then the other team has 60 seconds to get theirs up there or they lose votes! Each diner will get one burger from each team, but who will win this challenge?
The Red Team is falling behind and the Blue Team puts up two burgers and Luca doesn’t have any burgers ready. He gets burgers in the window, but they are rare (big surprise). They lose out on two votes there since the table will not eat a Red Team burger! Now on the Blue Team, Beth is screwing up and burning the buns!
Some diners are done and casting votes, but others are still eating. Another burger comes back for the Red Team raw and Joe and Chef Ramsay are not happy, but Chef Ramsay is expediting the food and should have caught that, right???
Now the VIP guests have arrived (the other 12 home cooks) and they will taste both burgers and be voting on whose is better. Luca is trying to go fast to mess with the Blue Team. Beth is burning burgers again. Luca has the final four burgers in the window, but Beth and Natasha are struggling to get them out!!!
The time runs out and four of the burgers will not go out for the Blue Team! Their competitors do not get to chose, since they only have one burger to eat. The votes have been cast and time to find out the results. The winning team on this challenge on MasterChef 2013 Season 4 is the Blue Team, so they served less burgers and still were the winners! That means Luca and Kathy will compete head-to-head in an extraordinary challenge and one of them will go home on Master Chef Season 4!
This challenge between Luca and Kathy will compete on the rooftop of Caesar’s Palace in Vegas! The MasterChef Kitchen has been assembled on the roof and the home cooks will be responsible for making Butter Poached Lobster with Shaved Fennel Salad. The home cooks get to taste the dish and have 45 minutes to replicate the dish and the loser will be eliminated on MasterChef Season 4!
The time has started and here we go. Chef Ramsay said this is a procedure and it has to be done step-by-step and they will fail if they mess up the steps. He thinks Luca looks more nervous than Kathy and she is composed in these situations. However, Luca goes and gets his lobster with 20 minutes left and Kathy is not getting hers! They are worried about her, but then Luca cuts the lobster and leaves the tail and Joe said that could be the move that sends him out of Master Chef 2013!
15 minutes remain and Kathy finally goes and gets her lobster, but can she finish it? Luca is screwing up the lobster and not using all the meat, but Kathy is doing it right and could win this thing. Kathy is having issues getting the meat out of the shells and in the oven to poach. The time is running out and Kathy struggles to get it on the plate, but they both have something there and now the moment of truth on MasterChef 2013 Season 4 tonight.
Kathy: Chef Ramsay said the lobster is cooked perfectly and the butter is seasoned beautifully and he can’t believe it. Graham said it is cooked to perfection, but the plating is not great and the salad is too acidic. Joe said the tail was perfect, but so close and she hurt herself by not giving the time to properly extract the meat.
Luca: Chef Ramsay said presentation-wise it looks good, but it is lacking color. He said it is 30 seconds off and he left it on the counter too long, but the salad is great and a very good effort. Graham said it is seasoned perfectly, but the temperature should be higher to get that color. Joe asked what would happen if they left him here in Vegas.
The judges discuss both the lobsters and make the tough decision. Who will be going home though? The home cook going back to the MasterChef Kitchen and winner of this challenge is Luca, which means that Kathy is eliminated on MasterChef 2013 Season 4 tonight. Do you agree with the judges’ choice tonight?
Chef Ramsay then invites her to his restaurant in New York and start learning the ropes! How nice of him!!!
