On the American Idol 2012 elimination results show Thursday night, predicting who would be eliminated was an extremely difficult choice. Predictions for who would be voted off American Idol 2012 this week were wildly different from site to site.
Some thought it might finally be Hollie Cavanagh‘s time to go. Others predicted former front-runner Phillip Phillips might have had one bad night too many. Others even speculated the voters might be sick of the judges’ constant praise of Joshua Ledet or Jessica Sanchez and eliminate one of them. Even poor Skylar Laine was predicted to be booted off because she is just too country cute and not enough of a mainstream pop singer.
So who got voted off American Idol 2012 this week in the end? Was it the girl who has been in the bottom more often than anyone else left in the top 5? Or did a favorite fall all the way to the bottom with no judges’ save left to catch them? Read on in our live American Idol 2012 elimination results show recap and find out!

Making my American Idol 2012 predictions for this week’s elimination results show was extremely tough! All of the remaining top 5 contestants could be in danger for a variety of different reasons.
Some of the fans are irritated that Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez get so much praise and attention from the judges — especially Joshua Ledet in the past few weeks. Hollie Cavanagh has stepped her game the past two episodes, but she’s still found herself in the bottom two so often it seems inevitable that she is going to get to boot eventually. Phillip Phillips seems to have finally started boring some of his fans and Skylar Laine’s fan base might just be too niche country to keep her going.
In the end, I decided for my American Idol 2012 predictions for this week’s elimination that I would have to go with my gut and guess that Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet would be the two who would end up in the safe zone.
If that turned out to be true, then it would be Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine and Phillip Phillips in the bottom three on the American Idol 2012 elimination results show Thursday night.
Faced with choosing between the three of them, my gut (which has been wrong before), decided it was most likely going to be Phillip Phillips who would get voted off American Idol 2012 this week. His performances the past few weeks have fallen flat. The judges have not been pleased with him. The fans have ranked him low in many viewer polls than either Hollie Cavanagh or Skylar Laine.
In the past seasons of American Idol results shows, a young white male is more often than not destined to end up in the final four somehow and it is very statistically unlikely to see two girls end up in the finals together. Plus, Phillip Phillips does still have that ‘cute boy’ thing going on that could get the tweens to rally for him if they really think he is in serious danger of getting voted off American Idol 2012 this week.
Honestly, I wasn’t really comfortable with any of my American Idol 2012 predictions for elimination this week on who would end up in the top 4 and who would go home. The voters have been so unpredictable over the past month it is hard to tell what will happen! So let’s end the speculation now and move right along to those results
And we’re off! Soul singer Joshua Ledet is the first up to the center of the stage to learn his fate. Jimmy Iovine says Joshua’s performance of “To Love Somebody” was the best song of the season. Joshua says that if he were given the chance to make an album today, he would make one that speaks to people with a message… and he is… SAFE!
We suffer through the inevitable Ford commercial featuring “Dream Life” as the theme song.
Naturally, now we have to take a break for a guest performance before we learn any more results. Coldplay is the first guest performer of the evening with their song “Paradise.”
Now we have two more American Idol 2012 hopefuls coming to the center of the stage, Hollie Cavanagh and Phillip Phillips. Jimmy Iovine thought Hollie did a great job on “River Deep, Mountain High” but was only ‘competent’ on “Bleeding Love.” He thinks she is safe this week. Jimmy Iovine thinks Phillip Phillips health is still a factor but he had two flat performances this week and should be in the bottom.
And the results are… Phillip Phillips is SAFE! Really? Not even in the bottom two? I so go that wrong. Hollie Cavanagh is… in the bottom two.
American Idol alumni Carrie Underwood graces the stage next for a guest performance, proving that yes, a country star can be born from Idol. (Hear that Skylar Laine? although honestly I like you better than Carrie and she sounded kind of pitchy…) When she is done, Carrie thanks host Ryan Seacrest and the judges for having her back. Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson give her a standing ovation.
Now it is time to learn the fate of the next American Idol 2012 contestants, Jessica Sanchez and Skylar Laine. Jimmy Iovine says Skylar is a fighter but thinks she didn’t have a clue what “Fortunate Son” was about when she sang it last night. He also didn’t really care much for her Brit song performance either. (Pardon me while I hiss a little at that.) As for Jessica Sanchez, he actually called her “Proud Mary” performance a “travesty” and hated her tiny miniskirt.
And Jessica Sanchez is… SAFE! That means the bottom two for this week are: Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine.
I’m worried now. It seems that between the two it should be Hollie Cavanagh… but the voters continue to defy my predictions and I’d hate to see Skylar Laine get eliminated before Hollie. Not that I don’t like Hollie, but I just think Skylar is the better singer.
This is nerve-wracking! Nail biting! Now we have to have another performance, of course, to delay us and make us wait to find out the final results! So here is Coldplay again. Sigh.
Still waiting, they have to keep it to the last minute don’t they?
Randy says it is the best top 5 they have ever had on the show. (Not sure I agree with that.) Jennifer Lopez says she thinks the top three are right and they deserve their place. Steven Tyler says something that sounds like he smoked a lot before the show. Ryan Seacrest says 60 million votes were cast last night.

got to admit, I guess there aren’t that many overseas comments here. So lets think of this as a global competition as it is, because even here in Australia, the UK and many other countries, we not only watch this show we also get to hear the music these artists put out. As far as I am concerned, the over rated Jessica is the biggest mistake for this competition. She is very nasal, will never be able to be heard on the radio as you cannot understand the words she sings and she is not a composer, writer or musically trained. The only person in this competition that has all that going for them is Phillip and he will not win because even as talented he is, people will not vote for the pure talent, only the one who looks pretty on stage.
Ha Ha Ha!! Girl you’re too funny…Clean you’re ears Phil is an okay singer but not a Star. On the other hand, the best we have is Jessica and she’s America’s Idol our Star
I am glad Skylar went home..so tired of the nasal voice. I agree they send home some of the best singers before the voting began this season and we are stuck with nothing special.. worst season yet for talent.. no matter who wins they will not be around for long and in a few years we wont remember who won 2012 Idol.

If you were to close your eyes & just listen….. Jessica & Joshua are the best! I love Philip is jus himself and has his own style! Skylar, typical country but she is a great entertainer and will do something great! Hollie is finally doing something but not the best! It is so sad people feel they have to dog out the ones they don’t want to win or are tired of hearing the praises of the judges! Like I wrote before, Close your eyes & listen!!! Every week we wait with bated breath just to see who is voted off of Idol. The cessation is the same. Terrible. I was watching this shw when it started for the talent was better than it had ever been before. Then the “voting” begins and the pattern is the same. The most of the best singers go first and then the tweenies play on the phones and the voting goes viral for the wrong people.
Most of the contestants on this show are people who sing in the shower, at school, at church, in the garage, etc. They really have no formal training. Jessica is different. I bet she has been one of these kids who go to the singing classes that all Fillipinos go to when they first learn to talk. They are taught to sing karaoke style and with sound tracks of every popular singing artist there is. She has probably been in every contest, health fair talent show in and around Chula Vista, Ca Nd National City, Ca. She has probably preformed at many Fil-AM program and Banquet. She has had plenty of paid for training.
This is a 16 yr old girl, who is dressing more and more like a night club, or lounge singer. She may end up winning for hometown is out campaigning votes for her. They are preparing for the win.
Joshua was born with is ability. It is a sho-nuff God given talent. He has probably been singing in his Daddy’s church, and every church function and convention in his home state. He has true talent.
There has been no money spent on him to teach him how to sing or stage presence. If he wins it is well deserved.
Whether he or she wins is not important. He will have a lucrative contract and his CD’s will sell. She will make some CD’s but it will not last unless she comes back to her age and present herself like all of the other young artist on the market this day and age.
I stopped voting years ago. Remember Jennifer Hudson? That is why. . .
