Whitney Houston on Oprah – Addiction to Bobby Worse than Crack
In her first interview in seven years, Whitney Houston revealed to Oprah that she was so addicted to crack cocaine she spent months dressed only in pajamas. As bad as her addiction to drugs was, however, her addiction to abusive ex-husband Bobby Brown was worse.

In her appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Whitney Houston said it was only through her mother’s intervention that she was able to escape from both her addiction to drugs and to ex-husband Bobby Brown. “She came and said, ‘It’s not worth it.’ She said, “If you move, Bobby, they’re gonna take you down. Don’t you make one move.’ And he stood there like, he was scared. And she said, ‘Let’s go.’”
Houston said her 14-year marriage to Bobby Brown was rife with emotional and verbal abuse, though it rarely got physical. Houston said Brown once “spit on me, in my face” and that he also “slapped” her once, but he “got hit on the head three times by me” for hitting her.
The second part of Whitney Houston’s interview with Oprah airs on Tuesday.
