Toy maker Mattel has announced they will be producing a speal, custom collectible Katniss Everdeen Barbie doll in honor of The Hunger Games. Mattel’s Barbie Collector division is already in the process of producing the Katniss Barbie dolls, which will pay homage to Jennifer Lawrence’s character in the big screen adaption of Suzanne Collins‘ hit novel.
Although The Hunger Games is geared toward a young adult and teenage audience, the Katniss Barbie dolls will be “created specifically for the adult collector,” Mattell said in a press statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Katniss Everdeen Barbie doll will be for sale at BarbieCollector.com and other locations. Photos of the Katniss doll will be released at a later date along with a date when The Hunger Games Barbie will be available.
The Barbie Collector division previously produced Twilight Barbie dolls inspiried by the wedding between the characters of Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) in Breaking Dawn: Part One. Those went on sale in February for around $30 each.
