Seinfeld Actor Daniel von Bargen suicide attempt chilling 911 call

Former “Seinfeld” actor Daniel von Bargen is in critical condition at a Cincinnati hospital after a failed suicide attempt. von Bargen, who played George Constanza’s boss Mr. Kruger on “Seinfeld,” survived a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

Daniel von Bargen, 61, reportedly shot himself in the temple with a .38 colt on Monday morning. In a disturbing call to 911, von Bargen explains his suicide attempt to the emergency operator. In horrific detail, von Bargen tells the 911 operator that he shot himself in the temple and cannot open his eyes. “I’ve shot myself in the head … and I need help,” von Bargen says in the call. “I shot in my temple.”

According to the tape, von Bargen was due to go into the hospital where doctors were going “to amputate at least a few toes” as a result of his diabetes. The former character actor said in the recording that he already had one leg amputated and was “tired” and did not want to go.

The 911 call closes with police arriving at  von Bargen’s apartment. Officers can be heard telling the former actor to keep his hands in view and asking him if he has any other guns around.

In addition to his role as Mr. Kruger on “Seinfeld,” Daniel von Bargen had roles on television shows like “All My Children” and “Malcolm in the Middle,” and in such films as “Super Troopers,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou,” “The Silence of the Lambs,” and “Basic Instinct.”
