Stellar Adele Grammy Awards 2012 performance follows multiple wins

After four months of silence, hit singer/songwriter Adele took to the stage at the 2012 Grammys to perform for the first time after surgery to fix a vocal cord hemorrhage. The Adele Grammy Awards 2012 performance of “Rolling in the Deep” proved the musical darling of the year is back and sounding as extraordinary as ever.

For the 2012 Grammys, Adele started raking in the prizes before the official broadcast even began. Adele won the award for Best Short Form Music Video for “Rolling in the Deep” and Best Pop Vocal Album for “21″ in the pre-telecast. She swiftly followed those wins with an award for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Someone Like You,” presented by Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt during the regular broadcast. Next up, Adele landed yet another Grammy Award for Song of the Year with co-writer Paul Epworth for “Rolling in the Deep.”

After tucking four newly acquired Grammy Awards under her belt, Adele took the stage to sing “Rolling in the Deep” in her first public performance since she was forced to have surgery four months following a vocal cord hemorrhage. You could have heard a pin drop a continent away as the audience leaned in to catch every note.

As the world mourns the loss of Whitney Houston, one of the music industry’s most beloved stars, Adele brought the light of the new generation into the 2012 Grammy Awards. Eschewing all the pomp and flash seen in so many Grammy Awards performances, Adele kept it simple and allowed her newly recovered voice to ring out as the star it is. Standing simply in the center of the stage, wearing a demure outfit, Adele sang her heart out. You could almost literally hear the sigh of relief of her fans at listening to Adele’s voice soar once more.

Adele’s Grammy Awards 2012 performance was not the best of her career and it was not hard to tell she is still trying to protect her pipes. The belting was softer, the high notes reserved, but there was no question that Adele is well on her way to reclaiming her former glory. Thus, it was only fitting that Adele should close out the night by winning the highest honor of the evening, Best Album of the Year — a perfect six wins from six nominations. Welcome back Adele!
