Whitney Houston death devastates ex-husband Bobby Brown
The death of Whitney Houston at age 48 from so-far unknown causes has devasted ex-husband Bobby Brown. Brown was reportedly “beside himself” with grief after Whitney Houston’s death on Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Still, even in his grief, Brown allegedly wanted to make sure Houston’s friends and family heard the news before it went public.
“He wanted to tell everyone about it before it hit the news,” one of Brown’s family members reportedly told People. “He didn’t want any of us to hear about it on television.”
“he could hardly get the words out when he called me,” the source, who received the news of Whitney Houston’s death from Brown, told People. “He was sobbing, and by the end of the call, I was sobbing too. He’s beside himself right now.”
Whitney Houston died Saturday afternoon in her fourth floor hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel shortly before she was to attend a massive party hosted by music mogul Clive Davis. Ex-husband Bobby Brown has been blamed by many for being one of the primary causes behind Whitney Houston’s fall into the years of depresssion and drug abuse that mangled her career.
Brown, who was in Memphis for a concert with new Edition, planned to continue with his peformance, but was devestated over the news of his ex-wife’s death. According to TMZ.com, Brown broke “in and out of crying fits” while calling friends and family to tell them the sad news.
So far Brown, who fathered Houston’s only child, has not released an official statement regarding Houston’s death, but the source told People he was “devestated” by her death. “They had Bobbi Kristina in common, and were determined to be co-parents to her. They didn’t hate each other. In fact, there was a lot of respect. So this has hit Bobby really heard,” the source said. “He loved her very much.”
