The third night of America’s Got Talent provided a fun and diverse show with acts ranging from an impressionist to a balancing act to a limbo dancer. Judges Howei Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell seemed to be having a bad day with a number of acts bombing. However, several acts quickly turned the day around and even ended with a Golden Buzzer.
Here are the highlights of the night.
Oscar Hernandez – Dancer
Talk about looks being deceiving. When this big man walked on stage the last thing you would expect is the splits. Raised by his grandmother, who was also a performer, Hernandez performed out an energetic dance routine that had the audience on their feet. The judges seemed to also be impressed by his high kicks and booty shaking as he received 4 yeses.
Elana And Sasha – Balancing Act
This amazing act includes a husband who is from Ukraine and an American wife who needed a translator app to communicate when they first met. When Elana was asked why they entered the show, she jokingly said, “free sandwiches.” Her laid back personality is in sharp contrast to the intense act that they perform. Elana performs acrobatics on top of a metal pole that is balanced on her husband’s forehead. Yes, it’s as crazy as it sounds and it also got 4 yeses form the judges.
Shemika Charles – Limo Dancer
When Shemika Charles first said she was going to limbo dance, like Simon, I didn’t expect to see anything exciting. We were both pleasantly proved wrong. A skill she learned from her mother and grandmother, who were both limbo dancers, Charles bends and moves her body in incredible ways, including walking underneath a car. Something you need to see to believe and worthy of the 4 yeses from the judges.
Kechi – Singer
A plane crash survivor, Kechi used music to get through the devastating incident that only left two people alive out of 169 passengers. She sings a beautiful interpretation of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” which left the audience in tears and the judges moved. She received a deservedly 4 yeses.
Big Benji – Singer
Although 73-year-old Benji claims to have come to America to become a star, it seems that she is more interested in getting a kiss from Simon. After professing her love for the British judge, she went on to serenade him. Unfortunately, her singing talent was nowhere close to as strong as her love for Simon. Even though she received 4 no’s, she still left with a smile as she finally got her kiss from Simon.
Tony And Jordan – Magician
The two 21-year-olds from France created some amazing magical illusions using a large screen and some imagination. They surprised the judges and audience as they pulled objects out of the screen to tell a fun and magical story. I am curious to see what they come up with next. Judges gave 4 yeses to the magical twins.
Wyatt Gray – Comedian
Stand-up comedy is not as easy as it looks, and this act is a perfect example of that. Unfortunately for Wyatt Gray, his act just did not click. You could tell he was nervous and it showed in his act. I felt sorry for him as he couldn’t even get one laugh. He quickly realized that he was bombing and ended his bit early.
Daniel Ferguson – Impressionist
Daniel Ferguson provided us an act that was fun and refreshing. He had the audience and judges laughing as he sang “Cake by the Ocean” in a number of different voiced, including Scooby Doo, Peter from Family Guy, and even Simon Cowell. The judges loved it and gave it 4 yeses.
Pompeyo Family – Dog Act
This act, which includes the husband, wife, young daughter, and 18 dogs, had the judges smiling ear to ear. The adorable dogs were mostly adopted from shelters and show off an amazing array of talents, including acrobatics, jumping rope and dancing around. They were a cute act, but not if they can keep it interesting for the long run. They still got their 4 yeses however.
Christian Guardino – Singer
Born blind, Christian never gave up and regained some of his site after an experimental gene therapy. At 16-years-old, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but his perseverance was evident in his soulful voice as he belted out “Who’s Loving You”. Not only did he have an amazng voice, but he commanded the stage like a seasoned performer. The judges and audience were on their feet by the end of the performance, and rightfully so. It was no surprise when Howie pressed the Golden Buzzer.1 of 1
