Tonight is the Dancing with the Stars 2017 season finale, and as always we’re bringing you the live recap! After 10 weeks of competition, it’s come down to the final three couples: Normani Kordei & Val Chmerkovskiy, Rashad Jennings & Emma Slater and David Ross & Lindsay Arnold. The DWTS 2017 judges (Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Julianne Hough) have praised each of the contestants for improving since week one and proving that they truly want to win the Mirrorball trophy. Last night, the final three couples competed in two rounds, the redemption round and the freestyle round. While all three couples earned perfect scores for their diverse freestyle performances, Rashad & Emma were the only pair to earn a perfect score for their redemption dance as well. Tonight, in addition to seeing all the past couples from this season return, we’ll also see the remaining couples compete one last time in the 24-hour fusion round. Tonight’s the night! It’s the DWTS Season 24 finale! The show kicks nff with co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews welcoming the finalists and judges to the stage. Len says it’s been a fantastic season filled with twists, turns, shocks and surprises. He’s looking forward to seeing this finale. He wishes them all good luck on behalf of all the judges.
We get a look back at each of the final three couples, starting with David & Lindsay. David says he’s so thankful for this competition. It helped him grow as a person.
Simone Biles & Sasha Farber perform a quick jive. They’ll be back to perform again later.
Next, we get a recap of Rashad & Emma’s journey. Rashad says he pushed himself so hard because working hard is all he knows.
Some of the female dance pros perform to “River” by Bishop Briggs.
Hailee Steinfeld performs a few verses of her song, “Starving.”
We now get a recap of Normani & Val’s journey. Normani says she feels like her dream came true. She has the best partner in the world and this experience wouldn’t have been the same without him.
The male pros perform next to “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars.
After the break, all the contestants from this season take the stage to perform alongside their pro partners in a big group number.
We get a recap of last night’s performances.
Bonner Bolton & Sharna Burgess perform afterward. It’s cowboy-themed, naturally.
We then get a quick look back at the weeks 1-3 of the competition.
Nancy Kerrigan & Artem Chigvintsev perform an encore of their Vegas Night samba.
Nick Viall & Peta Murgatroyd perform an encore of their Most Memorable Year performance.
David & Lindsay perform an encore of their Magic Mike-inspired dance from Vegas Night.
Charo plays the guitar while her partner Keo Motsepe dances with fellow pro, Witney Carson.
Rashad & Emma perform an encore of their cha cha from the season premiere. Looking good!
Next, we get a recap of weeks 4-6 of the competition, featuring Most Memorable Year, Disney Night and Boy Bands vs. Girl Groups.
Heather Morris & Maks Chmerkovskiy dance while TLC performs their smash hit, “Waterfalls.”
Hailee Steinfeld takes the stage again to sing her latest single, “Most Girls.”
OneRepublic performs their new single, “No Vacancy” while Sharna dances with fellow pro, Gleb Savchenko.
Normani & Val perform an encore of their salsa from Boy Bands vs. Girl Groups night, this time with a special cameo from none other than Len and Bruno! Fun stuff.
Next, a recap of weeks 7-10 of the competition, including Night at the Movies, the trio dances and the semi-finals.
Simone & Sasha perform an encore of their Moana-themed dance from Disney Night.
Lady Antebellum performs their latest single, “You Look Good.”
Next, we get a live preview performance of ABC’s upcoming Dirty Dancing featuring Nicole Scherzinger.
It’s time for the final competition of the season, the 24-hour fusion challenge!
First up, David & Lindsay perform a foxtrot/salsa. Len said it was a proper fusion dance. Dancing is a joyful thing, and watching him gives him joy. Well done. Julianne said America has spoken and that is why he is here tonight. He hasn’t disappointed at all this entire season. She thanks him for giving your purity and vulnerability this season. Bruno said no matter what happens tonight, he’s already the people’s champion. Carrie Ann said she makes him happy when she watches him dance. He came to this competition pure of heart and he’s opened all their hearts. She’s grateful that he’s right here. It’s 9s all around for a 36 out of 40.
Next, Normani & Val dance an argentine tango/foxtrot fusion. Julianne said it was seamless, flawless and absolutely gorgeous. The transformation of who she’s become as a woman is absolutely stunning and beautiful. Bruno said she is a magnificent creature. Power, beauty, versatility, a leading lady. Carrie Ann said that was a great display of everything she is. She made a challenging and intense journey like she was born to do it. Len said she dances with a clean and precise movement. She’s been the most consistent throughout season 24 and it’s been such a pleasure. It’s 10s all around for a perfect 40 out of 40!
Finally, Rashad & Emma perform a cha cha/tango fusion. Bruno said watching him was like watching a rising star getting brighter and brighter and going supernova at the right time. Carrie Ann said he is a pro’s dream. He dances like a man who has nothing to lose because he puts everything on the floor. Len said his progression through this competition has been fantastic far more than any other couple. Julianne said this is a great way to finish the season. It was a celebration of their partnership. It’s 10s from Carrie Ann, Julianne and Bruno and a 9 from Len, giving them a 39 out of 40.
Before we find out the results, OneRepublic returns to the stage to sing their hit, “I Lived” while a montage of the finalists’ performances throughout the season plays on screen.
It’s all come down to this. Who won DWTS Season 24? In third place is…Normani & Val.
Uhhh…wow. That’s a shock, to say the least. Voting has been really odd this season. The crowd gives them a standing ovation. Normani said she’s incredibly grateful for this experience.
It’s down to David & Lindsay and Rashad & Emma. The winner of DWTS Season 24 is…
RASHAD & EMMA!!!
I’m happy for them. Rashad came a long way since week one, and he and Emma clearly had a strong partnership. Congrats to them!
