Mr. Kaplan‘s plan approaches endgame in The Blacklist season 4 finale. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 20.
The Blacklist season 4 finale opens with Red meeting up with a contact named Reinhardt. But, Reinhardt starts to suspect that his shipment isn’t coming because suppliers are severing ties with Red.
Then, when Red’s associate confirms that the shipment didn’t come, Red tells Dembe to get Mr. Kaplan on the phone. He wants to find out what deals she’s interfering with.
Later, Red scrambles to call associates and assure them his deals are still good. Meanwhile, he waits for Dembe to get Mr. Kaplan on the phone.
Then, Red’s accountant Abe gives him a report. He says that Mr. Kaplan is cleaning him out.
Meanwhile, Donald Ressler talks to Julian Gale. Gale tells him that he knows the task force has been working with Red.
Red finds out that Abe is the one who’s been helping Mr. Kaplan steal his money. He kills Abe.
Mr. Kaplan abducts a man. She puts on surgical gloves and asks him, “Which is your dominant eye?”
Aram Mojtabai is subpoenaed to talk to a grand jury about the task force. His lawyer says that if he’s asked to testify, he’ll plead the fifth amendment. But, he’s granted immunity so that he’ll be able to avoid prison if he answers the questions. However, if he doesn’t answer, he could go to prison for contempt.
Later, a thief named Mario Dixon stages a break in. He uses the eye that Mr. Kaplan removed to get past a retinal scanner.
Gale tells his co-worker Georgie that Aram has been subpoenaed. Georgie tells him that a paper bag was dropped off by a woman who is supposedly Gale’s mom. He finds a cell phone inside.
Elizabeth Keen and Samar Novabi obtain the document that Mario stole. It’s Red’s signed agreement with the department of justice.
Liz and Samar drive Mario. He tells them he knows they won’t charge him since what he stole proves that Red was working with the task force.
Red visits Dom. He digs up something that he calls a “last resort.” He tells Dom that Liz is alive and tells him, “I won’t lose her again.”
Dom gets angry at Red for not telling him earlier that his granddaughter is alive. Red tells him that when he told him she’d died, he really thought she had.
Red meets up with Mario to find out where he plans on meeting Mr. Kaplan. They make a deal that would give Mario his freedom in an island with no extradition treaty, but Red goes back on his word and shoots Mario instead.
Mr. Kaplan tells Gale she’s willing to tell him everything she knows. She tells him to arrest her.
