Tonight’s season 4 finale of Chicago PD started off with Lindsay standing in front of a review board justifying her actions. She put her fully loaded service weapon into a suspects mouth. She did this to force him to give up the location of a boy he raped and left for dead. After she is striped of her badge, her phone starts ringing. It’s Bunny, she is crying and telling her she needs help. Instead of Lindsay showing up at her door, Voight, Halstead and Olinsky do.
When they get inside, they find Bunny covered in blood, but it’s not hers. It’s her boyfriend’s blood. She claims that she came home and found him shot. Voight finds a pulse and calls out for Halstead to call for an ambulance. After Johnny is brought to Med, the team starts collecting evidence from the apartment. Halstead finds a gun taped to the wall behind the stove. It looks to be a 9mm which is the same caliber Johnny was shot with.
Bunny is brought in for questioning. Halstead is trying to figure out why Bunny didn’t call for an ambulance before she called Lindsay. After Halstead mentions something about Bunny trying to run a scam on Lindsay, she asks Voight if they can talk alone. When Halstead leaves the room, Voight shows her the picture of the gun behind the stove, she claims she didn’t know it was there.
Lindsay shows up and Voight is releasing Bunny when she gets there. He tells her to stay close and leave her phone on. Voight tells Halstead to go to Med and try and get a statement from Johnny, but he died after losing too much blood. Halstead is talking to Will while he is at the hospital and he tells Will that he plans to ask Lindsay to marry him. Even though they aren’t together, he wants her to know he is there for her. He doesn’t want to blow this.
Right before Halstead leaves, there are some kids coming in suffering from overdoses and they are all from Johnny’s old neighborhood. Voight tells them to try and find a connection between the overdoses and Johnny’s murder. Atwater can’t find a ballistics match in the system or a match with the gun they found behind the stove.
Voight heads down to the social club where he knew Johnny from. When he gets there, Ricky is beating up on a guy. He thinks that they had something to do with Johnny’s death, but they deny it. Voight finds out that one of the kids who was brought into Med is the grandson of one of the other members. He thinks that this might be retaliation for the drugs that got out and put him in the hospital.
Lindsay goes to talk to Bunny but it doesn’t turn into a friendly conversation. Back at the precinct, Voight brings in the guy who Ricky was tuning up at the club. He tells them that Johnny was selling the drugs, Bunny was stashing them at her bar for him. When the team gets to Bunny’s bar, she is gone, the drugs are gone and Bunny ditched her phone there. Voight goes to see Lindsay and fills her in on what happened. Tells her that Johnny stole the drugs and started selling them, stashed them at Bunny’s bar and now she is in danger.
Voight gives Bunny’s information to an FBI agent friend of his. She is able to track Bunny down and the FBI agent friend of Voight’s shows up at Lindsay’s door. She offers Lindsay a job and tells her that she can help her mother at the same time. Tells Lindsay that the CPD will use Bunny against her, but she can avoid that by taking the job with the FBI and resigning with the CPD.
Lindsay goes to see Bunny and she tells Lindsay that Johnny had partners. There were three guys who robbed the truck and took the drugs, Johnny and two others. Lindsay tells her that she is going to try and fix this, but when she’s done Bunny won’t see her for a while. Lindsay goes to tell Halstead about the information that Bunny gave her.
There was a man, Ian who was working with them, but when the overdoses started happening, he blamed Johnny for selling the drugs to them in the first place. When they get to Ian’s, they find Ian dead on the floor of his apartment. Looks like the timeline shows that Ian killed Johnny and then ended up killed by the third guy involved. Bunny has agreed to testify against the third guy, but they have to find him first.
Lindsay goes to talk to the FBI agent that offered her a job. Tells her that she will take the job under one condition, Bunny doesn’t do any time for this narcotic bust. Keep in mind, Halstead still plans on asking Lindsay to marry him and he has no idea she is planning on taking this job. This job is for the New York Counter Terrorist Unit, which means she would be moving to New York.
We end the episode off with Voight going back to look over the crime scenes again. He finds evidence that Bunny shot Johnny, a pair of her glasses with blow back and blood on them. After telling Bunny what he found, he leaves where the FBI is holding her and throws them into the back of a garbage truck. He did this not to save Bunny, but to help Lindsay.
When Voight gets back to his office, he sees Lindsay there. She asks him why he got her the job offer, he tells her that she needed options. He gives her a dog tag, a way for her to know he is always with her. She asks if Bunny did it and then tells him that she doesn’t want to know. Lindsay gets up and gives him a hug and he tells her not to look back. She leaves his office. Everyone else is at Molly’s and wondering where Lindsay is.
Halstead has a ring and plans on asking her to marry him and when she doesn’t show, he calls her. She doesn’t answer his call though. She is standing on the bridge looking over Chicago, she looks like she is saying her goodbyes, but we won’t know for sure until Chicago Fire season 5!
