Last week on The Voice USA Season 12, we watched as the Voice Top 10 performed for our votes on Monday night! Mark Isaiah has managed to win the Voice Save both times, so he was performing in the Voice Top 10 and took on the new Harry Styles song. Then the voting opened up and it was time for some Voice Results on Tuesday night! Two artists were going home this week, so the bottom three was announced by Carson Daly. It happened to be Vanessa Ferguson, Lilli Passero and Mark Isaiah (again). No luck for Mark this time around, as Vanessa won the Voice Save and it was Lilli and Mark both going home from Team Adam!

For tonight, the Top 8 will perform twice. One new single and then pairing up for duets. For the first time ever, those duets will be eligible for download on iTunes and eligible for voting! Four artists go home this week, so the pressure is on! Let’s get things started on The Voice 2017!
Hunter Plake – Team Gwen – “With or Without You” by U2
Gwen said this is going to be more of a vocal performance for Hunter and it builds. To be honest, Hunter has that unique and weird tone to his voice. He sounds a lot like Bono on this one and they don’t mess with the original too much, which is odd for Hunter. Good vocal, but nothing too amazing or different.
COACHES’ THOUGHTS – Blake said that was, by a mile, his best vocal performance. Alicia said she was totally swept away and she was at his concert. Adam said it was the most straight-forward production he has done and so great to hear someone sing that song. Gwen said Hunter is so talented and he can produce and write and collaborate.
Chris Blue & Vanessa Ferguson – “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys
They are both Team Alicia and now taking on one of her songs, huh? Vanessa sounds amazing on this one. It started a little slow for both of them, but that chorus kicked it in and they sounded awesome. It was nice hearing Chris’ take on it, but Vanessa had those vocals and was killing it!
TSoul – Team Blake – “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin
Blake said there is no better time for swing for the fence and this song does that on The Voice 2017. TSoul is not messing around these past couple weeks, huh? He came out and took on a song that not many people might know and he killed it. He was giving us the emotions of those lyrics and I loved it. He sounded so good on this one!
COACHES’ THOUGHTS – Alicia said this was his Otis Redding take on Aretha Franklin and it was sick. Blake said he is so proud of him.
Brennley Brown – Team Gwen – “Suds in the Bucket” by Sara Evans
Gwen said they need to show a different side of her and have more fun up there. She is playing the guitar on this one and just looks awkward playing it. She does some shoulder move and jerking around and it is distracting. She has a good vocal and we all know she can sing, but it seems too staged to me. It does not come natural for her.
COACHES’ THOUGHTS – Blake said tonight, for the first time, it felt like we were watching a 15 year old tonight and she needed to remind people of that. Gwen said she is so gifted and so strong, even sometimes she fits. She did a great job and she is so talented.
Hunter Plake & Aliyah Moulden – “Let It Go” by James Bay
They are both beyond excited to sing together tonight on The Voice 2017. This song choice was definitely favoring Hunter and he sounded great on it. His voice was fitting for it. However, I was more impressed with what Aliyah did. I liked her tone on the song and think she sounded very good and held her own with Hunter.
Lauren Duski – Team Blake – “Ghost in This House” by Shenandoah
Blake said Lauren does best on The Voice 2017 when she does these storytelling performances. Lauren is a great singer. She has an amazing country voice and knows what she wants to sing. I think this was a great performance, but I was bored.
COACHES’ THOUGHTS – Adam said grace and simplicity and just getting up there and do what you do is getting out of style. He loves this more and it is more pure and genuine. Blake said there are a handful of songs out there and real country music fans know them. That song is one of them and what she just did is absolutely monumental.
TSoul & Jesse Larson – “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder
They said they will singlehandedly put soul back on the map. I guess it starts with this performance on The Voice Season 12 tonight? I think they did and I loved it! This was so fun to watch and they were both having a great time up there. They have great soulful voices and they shined on this one.
Chris Blue – Team Alicia – “Take Me To The King” by Tamela Mann
Chris is taking us back to church tonight on The Voice 2017, as he is doing some gospel music. I feel like so many people can relate to this song right now, especially me. The lyrics are so key for this one and Chris makes us feel them. His vocals were outstanding and his range is phenomenal. This was a stellar performance and definitely brought us to church!
COACHES’ THOUGHTS – Alicia said she knew he could do it. Let all the walls down and tap into that thing. He just tapped into all those frustrations we have, those pains we have. He did that and we need to take him where he belongs.
Vanessa Ferguson – Team Alicia – “Superstar” by Luther Vandross
Her grandfather wants her to wear a dress on this one, so she is going to follow his wishes. I normally feel the lyrics when Vanessa sings. Maybe Chris stole all my emotions with his performance before this? I am not sure, but I just did not feel the emotional side of this song from Vanessa. Her vocals were on-point and she can sing anything. However, I wanted more feeling with this powerful song.
COACHES’ THOUGHTS – Alicia said her to uncover herself in this way and see her completely. She is blooming and blossoming and becoming the incredible woman she is. She wants her to stay and show America more.
Brennley Brown & Lauren Duski – “Good Hearted Woman” by LeAnn Rimes
They actually sang together during the Voice Battles, as Lauren won that battle for Team Blake. They are excited to sing together again, but more on the fun side. They both have great country voices and this was a fun performance on The Voice 2017. It did allow us to see how Lauren is more mature with her voice than Brennley.
Jesse Larson – Team Adam – “I Was Wrong” by Chris Stapleton
His wife surprised him this week by visiting and telling him that she is pregnant! This is Adam’s last artist and now he needs to win The Voice Season 12 to support that kid! Adam said that he thinks Jesse is the best vocalist in this competition. This performance went along with that thought. He is a great singer and this song choice was perfect for him!
COACHES’ THOUGHTS – Adam said his believe in Jesse is so real. He genuinely believes that this guy is the best be got. Help him make sure that Jesse makes it to the finale and they will blow our minds.
Aliyah Moulden – Team Blake – “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe
Blake said she is only 15 years old, but connecting to these songs as if she wrote them herself. I think they found a niche for Aliyah to shine and gain some big time votes. It worked last week and it might work on this song too. She sounded great on the song and looked beautiful. This was a powerful performance to end the night, so good job girl!
COACHES’ THOUGHTS – Blake said he signed on to do this coach in 2011 hoping to someday to meet and work with an artist like her. Someone that has talent and we can see the development and change throughout the contestant. She is the model Voice contestant!
