Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler hire an assistant in Better Call Saul season 3 episode 2. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of the premiere.
Better Call Saul season 3 episode 2 opens with Chuck McGill talking to his new employee David. David plays solitaire until Chuck says that it’s time for him to turn off his lamp. Once the lights are off, Chuck goes to the window. He looks outside.
Three guys meet up for a hand off. One of them passes over the tracking device that Mike Ehrmantraut found on his car.
Mike tails the car of the guy who took the tracking device. This leads him to Los Pollos Hermanos.
Francesca Lee arrives at Wexler-McGill for an interview. She’s early and Jimmy is still working on painting the logo.
Jimmy is training Francesca on the phone when Mike calls. Jimmy tells her to send the call through to him. Mike asks Jimmy to meet him for breakfast.
Mike instructs Jimmy on what to do when he enters Los Pollos Hermanos. He gets a booth, then watches. Until a man comes in carrying a backpack, which he sets on the floor. As Jimmy watches, Gus Fring cleans up the restaurant. The man leaves, with the backpack still on him.
Jimmy reports back to Mike. He swears that he was watching the whole time and nobody touched the backpack.
Mike sits parked across the street from Los Pollos Hermanos, taking notes on everything he sees. The car that he’s tracking drives by.
Kim confronts Jimmy. She tells him that Ernesto told her that Chuck McGill has a tape of his confession.
Later, Jimmy sees his last client of the day out. He tells Francesca she did a great job.
At the end of the episode, Jimmy storms in and grabs the tape out of Chuck’s drawer before destroying it. Chuck has David and Howard Hamlin confirm that they both witnessed what happened.1 of 1
