Beaumont Rosewood struggles with guilt when Ryan Slade faces complications after his kidney donation in Rosewood season 2 episode 20. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 19.
Rosewood season 2 episode 20 opens with a man named Mayor Orson Delmar riding a tractor in Marshwood, Florida. Later, it’s revealed that he’s dead and trapped underneath the tractor.
Rosewood, Annalise Villa and TMI travel to Marshwood. Along with Sheriff Amy Potts, they investigate the crime scene. Rosewood says that Orson was dead before he ended up under the tractor, meaning this wasn’t an accident– it was a murder.
Mitchie Mendelson and Pippy Rosewood report from Magic City that they believe there was poison in Orson’s body. Meanwhile, Rosewood and the others search Orsons’ house for anything that could be used to poison him.
The team finds out that Orson was sleeping with a married woman named Sandy Langford. They find Sandy’s husband Earl. He has a gun, but TMI distracts him while Villa enters his house from the back to hold a gun on him.
In jail, Earl asks for Jeff Groves, the town’s only lawyer. Rosewood and Villa accuse him of overprescribing Orson with testosterone in order to kill him. Earl says that if he was going to kill Orson, he’d shoot him. But, Mitchie contacts them and says that there’s no sign of that being the cause of death.
Once they team identifies the type of poison that killed Orson, Amy suggests testing everyone in town since it’s not that big. Pippy discovers that everyone in town is testing positive for the poison. Then, they’re interrupted with a call about Slade’s status in the hospital.
Rosewood tells Villa that Slade’s immune system isn’t responding to any antibiotics. He says that until the doctors can find the right combination, it’s not looking good for him.
When the team finds a cup that they believe was used to poison Orson at Sandy’s house, they arrest her. But, while she’s in her jail cell she collapses and goes into cardiac arrest.
Rosewood rushes her into the team’s makeshift lab and they scramble to save her. They’re able to resuscitate her. Sandy asks what happened. Villa says that the person who killed Orson just tried to kill her too.
Sandy tells them that Jeff Groves was blackmailing her and Orson. They had to pay him off so he wouldn’t tell Earl about their affair. The team arrests Groves, believing he tried to kill them.
But, Mitchie and Pippy arrive with the cup that was used to poison Orson. They’ve tested it for fingerprints. Rosewood sees that Groves didn’t do it.
Rosewood brings Sandy back into the lab. He tells her he has to give her an ultrasound to make sure she won’t have organ failure from being poisoned. He reveals he knows that she poisoned herself because they were too close to suspecting her. Amy arrests her for Orson’s murder again.
At the end of the episode, Rosewood and Villa return to the hospital and ask Ira Hornstock how Slade is. Hornstock tells them it’s going to be okay.
