Murdoc plans revenge against Angus MacGyver in the MacGyver season 1 finale. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 20.
The MacGyver season 1 finale opens on a flashback to a few years previously. MacGyver and Jack Dalton are in a mission in Cairo. MacGyver opens a crate and finds a dirty bomb. A group of men come in with guns and tell MacGyver and Dalton that it was always their plan for the bomb to detonate.
in the present day, Dalton brings MacGyver dinner to celebrate the anniversary of surviving the Cairo mission. MacGyver shows him a letter he wrote to his dad that never made it to him. He says that if the letter couldn’t find him, he doesn’t know if he’ll ever be able to.
A man named Milton Zito who’s new to the team looks at Wilt Bozer‘s work in the lab. He removes a prosthetic mask and then stabs Bozer.
The team gathers around Bozer. MacGyver says that if he doesn’t seal the wound immediately, Bozer will bleed out. He starts grabbing objects to patch Bozer up.
Riley Davis identifies the man who was posing as Zito as Jason Tennant, a man who was locked away in a cell right next to Murdoc’s. Matty Webber contacts Murdoc, who explains that he paid Jason to murder everyone at Phoenix and taught him everything he knows. Even worse, Tennant and his partner take over the tech in Phoenix’s entire building.
Riley tells Matty that she can’t fix this unless she physically goes to the data center on level 4. Dalton says he’ll accompany her there. In the server room, MacGyver’s partner pins Riley down. She fights with him for his gun and it goes off, shooting him.
MacGyver and Dalton find Riley extremely shaken up from shooting a man. But, she’s able to focus enough to get Phoenix’s camera system back online. It reveals that The Organization has sent an army into their building.
Riley watches the surveillance system and directs MacGyver and Dalton where to go. But, they wind up at a locked door. Riley says that she still doesn’t have control over their lock system.
Bozer realizes that one of his prosthetic masks has been stolen, meaning Tennant could be anywhere without the team realizing it. But, he’s too injured to communicate this to Matty. He struggles to walk over to the sprinkler system and set it off, knowing that the prosthetic isn’t waterproof.
When Tennant’s identity is revealed, he starts shooting people. Meanwhile, MacGyver fights three soldiers. He threatens to cut a CO2 tank, which would kill them all.
When Dalton arrives and shoots the door enough to weaken it, MacGyver punches it with his pocket knife. The glass breaks and MacGyver and Dalton run to safety as the explosion goes off.
At the end of the episode, Murdoc is passed out in his cell. A guard arrives and unlocks the door to give him medical attention. Murdoc comes to and attacks the guard.
