Dancing with the Stars Season 24 continues tonight with week 4 performances, and as always we’re here to bring you the DWTS 2017 live recap! The Dancing with the Stars 2017 judges (Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Julianne Hough) have offered praise to the contestants as they continue to show improvement. Tonight, the stars will recall their most memorable year, which, as always, is bound to be emotional. Last week, the DWTS 2017 couples competed in the show’s first-ever Vegas night. Many stars rose up the ranks, including Heather Morris & Alan Bersten (filling in for Maks Chmerkovskiy, who’s still recovering from his injury) with a slaying performance to Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” as well as Normani Kordei & Val Chmerkovskiy, who earned the highest score of the night with a foxtrot to “Big Spender” by Shirley Bassey. By the end of the evening, the two couples in jeopardy were Charo & Keo Motsepe and Nick Viall & Peta Murgatroyd, with Charo & Keo ultimately being eliminated. We’ll get to know each star a little better tonight as they share pivotal years in their lives.
Normani Kordei & Val Chmerkovskiy – Rumba (Most Memorable Year – 2012)
Judges: Len said she is a terrific dancer. She’s got great, charismatic personality when she’s dancing. Julianne said she is a powerhouse. She dances as if her career depends on it. So well done. Bruno said she was like a rumba dominatrix. She’s a joy to watch. Carrie Ann said what’s special about tonight is there’s a lot of storytelling. Tonight it was about her empowerment. There was a pride in her that was so wonderful to watch on Dancing with the Stars 2017.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7, Julianne – 8, Bruno – 9 = 32/40
Nick Viall & Peta Murgatroyd – Rumba (Most Memorable Year – 2016)
Judges: Julianne said this was his best dance. He really calmed down. It was beautiful. Bruno said he felt something new stirring inside him tonight. He definitely connected and felt it tonight. Be careful not to stall his hip action. Keep it smooth. Carrie Ann said he was so grounded and connected. They did a fantastic job. Len said there’s still a way to go. It was his best dance so far.

Nancy Kerrigan & Artem Chigvintsev – Foxtrot to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts
Judges: Bruno said this had an amazing lyricism. Beautifully constructed. Don’t lose her top line when she does her overhead turns. Carrie Ann said she has that incredible vulnerability that lies beneath the surface of incredible courage. She pushes herself to the edge emotionally and physically and it shows in her dance. Len said she danced proper foxtrot movement. She moved from the pack to a frontrunner. Julianne said she takes the biggest strides. This show is about growth and that’s what they see from her. There was a childlike purity when she was dancing. It was beautiful.

Mr. T & Kym Herjavec – Waltz (Most Memorable Year – 1995)
Judges: Carrie Ann said some people may be winning the race with fancy moves, but he’s winning their hearts. It was full of grace. Len said they are the A-Team. He loves how they work together. He admires him more than any other celebrity. He’s right outside his comfort zone and he comes out and works hard. Julianne said the beauty was in the performance. It was breathtaking. Dance is about expressing your story and character and who you are and what you go through. Bruno said he has love and respect for him. He’s a good man with a heart of gold. His faith inspires all of them on Dancing with the Stars 2017
Scores: Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Julianne – 7, Bruno – 7 = 28/40
Heather Morris & Alan Bersten (filling in for Maks Chmerkovskiy) – Cha Cha (Most Memorable Year – 2015)
Judges: Len said he loved the routine and her dancing. He thought it was lovely. Julianne said the choreography was amazing. She nailed it. It was so fun. This brought so much life and energy. Technique was on it, girl. Bruno said what she painted is the picture of the perfect couple in perfect harmony, full of delicious details. They both danced so well. Carrie Ann said she was just fantastic. She becomes more beautiful with every dance.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 9, Julianne – 9, Bruno – 9 = 35/40! (Nice! Highest score so far!)
David Ross & Lindsay Arnold – Viennese Waltz (Most Memorable Year – 2016)
Judges: Julianne said everyone is so on their game tonight. His energy is always infectious. It could have been a little smoother, but she loves this team. Bruno said he has the vitality of a spring chicken. Beautiful routine but he has to correct the viennese waltz because it has to float. Carrie Ann said it lost a little control, but she loves his enthusiasm. Len said he’s been watching videos of baseball because of him. He makes some baseball-related gestures to him.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 8, Julianne – 8, Bruno – 8 = 31/40
Rashad Jennings & Emma Slater – Contemporary (Most Memorable Year – 2006)
Judges: Bruno said he’s mesmerized. He wasn’t watching dance. He was watching two great artists painting one of the most beautiful works of art. It touches your body, speaks to your soul and affects you forever. Carrie Ann said he’s in the right place in the right time right now. He is a born dancer. It was incredible. Len said he loved the concept and the emotion. He thought it was fantastic. Julianne said motion equals emotion. She has no words for what she’s feeling on the inside. She thanks him for putting it all out there for them.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, Julianne – 10, Bruno – 10 = 39/40!!! (Incredible! Highest score of the season so far! Well deserved.)
Erika Jayne & Gleb Savchenko – Cha Cha (Most Memorable Year – 1989)
Judges: Carrie Ann said she loves how she performs. She’s bold and fearless. Tonight’s choreography was different for her. She appreciates that because it’s about pushing her past her boundaries. Len said she’s on a plateau. It’s a bit same old same old. He’d like to see her come out and really dance. She can do it. Julianne said she’s fierce and raw like Madonna. She’s sharp and tight and has great leg action. She wants to see more him action. Bruno said she goes for it and he loves that. She’s got it and she flaunts it.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7, Julianne – 7, Bruno – 8 = 30/40
Simone Biles & Sasha Farber – Viennese Waltz (Most Memorable Year – 2000)
Judges: Len said it was her best dance so far. Julianne said this is what she’s been waiting for, this emotion to come through. Do this every time. She got through it. Being perfect isn’t always the story we need to tell. It was beautiful. Bruno said she’s so adorable. She wore her heart on her sleeve tonight. She made herself vulnerable and she danced beautifully. Carrie Ann said she trusted her partner and that is a huge step for her. The dancing was breathtaking.

Bonner Bolton & Sharna Burgess – Foxtrot (Most Memorable Year – 2016)
Judges: Julianne said ballroom dances suit him. Huge difference from last week. He was leading Sharna tonight. Bruno said he was so much more in control. When he applies himself to it he can do anything. Carrie Ann said last week she could tell this was all so new for him. There’s a fluidity and authenticity to his moves. There’s an effortless dignity when he dances. Len said his frame was good. His footwork was a little bit suspect, but he’s got to say, welcome to the competition on Dancing with the Stars 2017.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8, Julianne – 8, Bruno – 8 = 32/40
It’s time for this week’s elimination. The first couple who is in jeopardy is Mr. T & Kym. Joining them are Erika & Gleb. The rest of the couples are safe on Dancing with the Stars 2017.
The couple leaving tonight is…Mr. T & Kym. Mr. T said he tried. Kym said he’s amazing and she had so much fun. She’s got a new friend for life.
