Angus MacGyver poses as Murdoc in MacGyver season 1 episode 20. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 19.
MacGyver season 1 episode 20 opens with the Phoenix Foundation playing a company softball game against the NSA. But, Matty Webber tells them they have to forefeit because something big has come up.
Back at the agency, Matty tells them that a group called Omnus has hired Murdoc to kill someone called The Architect. MacGyver suggests that, since no one else knows what Murdoc looks like, they send someone in as Murdoc.
MacGyver and Matty visit Murdoc in his cell. After Matty threatens to tell Murdoc’s son the truth about what he does, he agrees to help MacGyver pose as him.
Murdoc coaches MacGyver when he gets a message from Matty. He finds out that Omnus has moved up the meeting.
On the way to the meeting, Jack Dalton asks MacGyver if he’s sure he wants to do this. MacGyver says that it’s the only way to learn The Architect’s identity.
While MacGyver is pretending to be Murdoc, he tracks down a man named Joshua. Josh insists he’s not The Architect. MacGyver believes him, but asks why Omnus would pay to have him killed.
MacGyver calls the team. He tells them that Joshua is definitely the guy Omnus wants dead, but that he doesn’t know anything.
Joshua explains that he was trying to fix static interference for a cell company. The team realizes that this interference was a secret communication system that the organization Patricia Thornton is a part of was using. That’s why they wanted to take out Joshua. They discover that members of the organization are closing in on MacGyver to take him out.
While Dalton and a team head towards MacGyver, he tries to build something to buy time. He grabs a plastic bag full of soda cans and a cart full of cleaning supplies. He uses them to build a fog machine to create cover for him and Joshua to escape.
The team apprehends Daniel Horn, who’s with the organization. Matty takes him into an interrogation room in the Phoenix Foundation. Horn reveals that he wanted to be caught.
