A double homicide takes Beaumont Rosewood and Annalise Villa to Little Havana in Rosewood season 2 episode 19. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 18.
Rosewood season 2 episode 19 opens with Captain Ryan Slade briefing the other cops on a vigilante named Santo. He says that Santo doesn’t kill anyone or carry a gun. Instead, his weapon of choice is a baton.
Later, Rosewood and Villa look at the body of a man named Dax Honeycutt. And, Villa thinks that Santo killed him, even though he’s never killed before. Then, press rushes over to ask her to confirm that she’s saying Santo has committed a murder.
Back at Magic City, TMI tells Mitchie Mendelson how much trouble she’s having making custom arrangements for Rosewood’s hospital room. They both have very specific instructions from Pippy Rosewood.
Later, Rosewood and Villa go over to Dax’s place. And, they find a man there who they believe is Santo.
Villa questions the man. And, he says that he was looking for evidence to exonerate Santo.
Then, Rosewood and Viola discover Santo’s headquarters. And, they find that his stuff is covered in Dax’s fingerprints. So, Dax was Santo.
Rosewood, Villa and Ira Hornstock try to figure out who would want to kill Santo. They know it’s not the cartel he was after because at the time of his death they were having a meeting about how to get rid of Santo.
Rosewood shows Villa that the mark on Dax’s baton is for an army unit. The mark also matches the one on the baton he was killed with, which means he was killed by someone from his own unit.
Rosewood, Villa and Hornstock tell Slade about a woman named Carly Valesco who had both batons made. She died as a result of the same torture that Dax and the rest of their unit went through.
Rosewood is about to go into surgery. He tells his father Beaumont Rosewood Sr. to order his team to check Dax’s nasal passages for calcium carbonate. He believes this will prove who killed Dax.
Marco Villa arranges a meeting with Asa at a paintball court. Ira and Villa surprise him by telling him that they know they killed Dax. They found the paint in his nasal passage and recognized it as paint from Asa’s shop.
At the end of the episode, a doctor tells them there’s been a complication. Rosewood wakes up okay, but doctors are still tending to Slade. It looks like he’s gone into cardiac arrest.
