The team works on a frozen solid body in Rosewood season 2 episode 18. For a refresher on what happened before the break, read my recap of episode 17.
Rosewood season 2 episode 18 opens with a woman named Ashley Morrison driving. Then, she comes to a halt and asks herself what she’s doing. She calls 911.
When Beaumont Rosewood and his team are brought in two days later, Ashley is frozen solid. So, Rosewood says they’ll have to thaw her.
Ira Hornstock and Ryan Slade talk about Annalise Villa‘s brother Marcos Villa. Hornstock notices it seems like he’s the only one who hasn’t met him.
Villa gets Ashley’s phone records. She plays the 911 phone call for Rosewood.
They play the phone call again for Hornstock and Slade. After a long pause, she told the police nevermind and that calling them was a mistake. The phone records also show that a man named Dale Bartram called Ashley several times before the 911 call.
They go to Dale’s house and he claims that he doesn’t know Ashley. But, when Rosewood looks at him with a black light, it appears that Ashley pepper sprayed him.
Hornstock and Villa interrogate Dale. He says that his daughter Tiffany called Ashley and claimed he was hurting their nanny Beth. But, Dale says it was a misunderstanding and that Tiffany caught him being sexual with Beth and thought he was hurting her.
The team returns to the site of Ashley’s murder: the home of a woman named Veronica Collins who Ashley was housesitting for. When they find nicotine on me end of the murder weapon and recall that Veronica was a smoker, they develop a theory that she lied about being out of town at all to have an alibi for killing Ashley.
Hornstock questions Veronica. He tells her that he knows she staged the fire that destroyed her business and he suspects that Ashley knew about it, so she killed her.
The team discovers that Ashley’s aunt Paula, who is inheriting her trust now that she’s dead, is suffering from nicotine poisoning. Rosewood tells her that whoever’s next in line for the trust probably killed Ashley and is trying to kill her.
Rosewood and Villa find Ashley’s cousin, the next person in line for the trust, and accuse her of Ashley’s murder and poisoning Paula. She confesses by telling them that it wasn’t just about the money– her mom always loved Ashley more than he loved her. They arrest her.
At the end of the episode, Slade visits Rosewood again. He tells him that he doesn’t want to become the kind of person he would be without Rosewood, so it’s not Rosewood’s life that he’s saving by giving him the kidney. Rosewood finally agrees to accept it.
