Sharon Elkin and Will announce that they are engaged in The Fosters season 4 episode 16. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 15.
The Fosters season 4 episode 16 opens with the family having dinner together. Sharon and Will tell them that they’re engaged.
But, after dinner, Sharon tells Stef Adams-Foster that Will is going to ask for Stef’s blessing. She tells her that she doesn’t want her to give her blessing because she wants to get out of the engagement.
Stef asks why Sharon doesn’t want to marry will. Sharon says that they’re having a good time and she doesn’t want to ruin the fun with marriage.
Emma writes a letter explaining to Jesus Adams-Foster that she got an abortion. She asks Brandon Adams-Foster to give it to Jesus, explaining that she could never tell Jesus in person. Brandon gives Jesus the letter, but when Jesus look at it, he can’t comprehend it because of his brain damage.
Lena Adams-Foster tells Stef that only two kids have signed up for her LGBT sex ed class. Jude Adams-Foster is frustrated with what kids have been saying to him at school and asks if they have to have the class at their house.
Callie Adams-Foster goes to the place where Troy Johnson said he was working on the night of Martha Johnson‘s murder. AJ Hensdale goes inside to find his alibi witness, but instead he sees Troy. Troy follows him to the parking lot and yells at Callie that he caught her on security camera and this is harassment.
Will cooks dinner for the family. He tells the kids that they should all bring their significant others to the wedding.
Jesus tells Sharon that he can’t read the letter from Emma. She offers to read it for him. When she gets to the part about the abortion, she decides not to tell him. So, he texts Emma and says that he’s not mad at her and they don’t have to talk about anything.
Lena and Stef arrive at the room for the LGBT sex ed class. Lena expects there to only be two kids, but it turns out there’s about a dozen. One kid explains they couldn’t get a permission slip because they’re not out to their parents.
At the wedding, Sharon takes Emma aside. She tells her that she skipped over the part in the letter about the abortion. She assures Emma that she supports her choice and that she’s not going to tell anyone.
Jude and Noah get ready for the wedding. Noah asks what he thought of sex ed. Jude says he doesn’t know and then comments on how many questions Noah asked.
Later, Emma finds Brandon. She tells him that she figured out Jesus didn’t read her letter because he can’t read.
When Sharon is too nervous to come out, Grace does a stand up routine to entertain the guests. Afterwards, she tells Brandon that she warned him she wasn’t clean.
Since Sharon chooses not to get married, Stef and Lena go through the ceremony instead. At the end of the episode, they kiss in the rain.
