The Challenge Invasion 2017 kicks off another episode of their season focusing on the relationships amongst the cast. If you missed last week’s antics, you can catch them here. This season features one of the horniest casts to date. No doubt the producers of the show provide adequate protection for all. Grab your favorite Thai dish and dig in to tonight’s episode.
First and foremost, it’s refreshing watching the veterans interacting with the underdogs. They’re not used to the unknown and not having their normal alliances in the house. Moreover, this season of The Challenge Invasion features various potential love connections, both old and new.
The Crossfit flirtation between Cara Maria & Nicole is at most one sided but lighthearted. The will they/won’t they vibes they’re giving off allow their relationship to blossom.
Elsewhere, Kailah reminds me of a dog with a bone. It did not matter that Cory dogged her out in front of the cast, she wants what she wants. Luckily for scumbag Cory, Kailah let him smash even after he resisted her advances. Some girls truly don’t have self resprect.
Lastly, Nelson & Sylvia are not meant to be. Sylvia is loyal to her dearly departed friend LaToya, declaring herself no one’s sloppy seconds. Unfortunately for Nelson, her turned down advances lead to his drunken, childish outburst tossing furniture everywhere. So sad to see grown men act that way.
CT The Proud Daddy
If you did not shed a single tear during CT’s scene about the love for his child, we can’t be friends and you are not a human being. Arguably the second most touching moment from CT on a challenge. By and large, CT completed a 180 degree turn and changed his life for the better. The way CT speaks about his child is heartwarming and touching. So much so that it brings happiness to the audience to see him in a positive space after the loss of Diem Brown. Thinking about their epic love story brings a flood of emotions back. However, CT has shown us all that he too has moved forward in his life.
What’s Old Is New Again
Presumably both Jenna and Zach did not have any knowledge the other one was participating on the challenge they signed up for. That alone makes for awkward moments. Be that as it may, but Jenna and Zach will always have a special relationship. While Jenna acts awkwardly, it’s only a means to protect herself against her feelings for Zach. Unfortunately for the rest of the cast, that means they’re back together annoying everyone.
As a result of the rekindled relationship, Camila takes umbrage with Jenna’s actions. She doesn’t understand when Jenna is going to learn her lesson when dealing with Zach. I think America collectively asked themselves that same question. Of course Zach admits that he is a horrible boyfriend and has a terrible attention span. That should not come as a shock to anyone.
The true MVP out on The Challenge Invasion is Laurel. For example, she’s minding her own business in the kitchen, but her facial expressions are everything America feels in that moment. Hearing Jenna scream Zach’s name is both irritating and grating on the ears. I truly feel awful for that cast.
Prior to the group coming together for nominations, the divided underdogs team continues scrambling for votes. Their poor strategy of divisiveness ill only bite them in the ass later. TJ Lavin explains the rules of nominations and gets the show started.
All things considered, the nominations went as expected. Shane, Hunter & Nelson all voted for Kailah, and Tony & Cory voted for Ashley. The female elimination round pits Kailah vs. Sylvia.
Up next are the ladies voting for the gentlemen. Kailah, Jenna & Nicole all vote for Shane, and Amanda & Sylvia vote for Cory. The male elimination round pits Tony vs. Shane.
Nothing screams arrogant b***h more than Kailah proclaiming she didn’t come on the show to make friends. Unfortunately, her poor strategy is what landed her in the elimination round in the first place. Meanwhile, Shane imparts some of his veteran wisdom unto Tony and his fellow underdogs. Shane proceeds to explain that whether or not he loses tonight, the real loser is Tony. If Tony wins, he loses due to beating a weaker player. If Tony loses to Shane, he’s a loser because he couldn’t back up his words.
Elimination – Tuk Tuk Bang Bang
In my opinion, The Challenge Invasion has the coolest elimination set. The elimination arena is nicknamed “The Fortress” and it certainly lives up to it’s name. TJ explains the simplistic rules. The challenges are on the back of a tuk tuk, or Thai taxi cab, and they need to bang into the wall to force it forward. The first competitor to knock the wall down wins and sends their competition home.
The ladies are up first. Of course Kailah can’t back up her trash talking once in the elimination round. She ends up neck and neck with Sylvia. Regrettably, Kailah underestimated the strategy portion of the elimination and gasses out. This allows Sylvia to push forward and eliminate Kailah. Kailah has a one way ticket back to America.
Up next are Shane & Tony. Shane, having competed on his fair share of challenges and elimination rounds understands there is a strategy to the challenge. Shane positions himself lower each time he bangs into the tuk tuk, not moving back each time he hits it. This in turn allows his tuk tuk to progress forward. This elimination unfortunately was the end of the line for Tony. Tony is eliminated. Arguably, Tony’s intentions in the game seemed pure and his heartfelt message to his two children and mothers of his children tugged at the heart strings.
Shane & Sylvia live to see another week in The Oasis.
Gossip Girls & Boys
It would not be a challenge without an unsubstantiated claim of a cast hook up. Ashley, Sylvia & Amanda repeat a rumor about Jenna’s sexcapades with Bruno on the plane ride over to Thailand. Whether or not the claim is true or not, it serves to disrupt Jenna’s game certainly. Strange enough, Johnny Bananas finds himself right in the middle of the drama. Jenna is dumbfounded by the rumors and visibly upset. Whether or not the rumor is true, her rekindled relationship with Zach is at stake.
What will happen next week between Jenna and Zach? Will the Champions redeem their selves and pick up a win? Who will be nominated for elimination?
The Challenge Invasion 2017 airs every Tuesday at 9pm EST on MTV.
