Daphne Vasquez volunteers at a clinic in Switched at Birth season 5 episode 6. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 5.
Switched at Birth season 5 episode 6 opens with Daphne talking to Iris Watkins. They run into Mingo. He tries to be friendly with Iris, but she’s clearly still angry at him.
Daphne arrives at her volunteer clinic. She finds out the doctor she’s working for is Dr. Jackson, the man who caught her stealing oxycodone.
Bay Kennish confronts Noelle about stealing her art. Noelle tells her, “You’re my apprentice. What’s yours is mine.”
Daphne watches Dr. Jackson give stitches to a girl named Ali. But, his hand shakes as he’s giving her stitches.
Afterwards, Daphne talks to Dr. Jackson. He says that he forgot to take his arthritis pills.
Regina Vasquez works at the Cracked Mug when a man named Manuel comes in. They have a flirty conversation before she finds out that he’s her boyfriend Luca Barahona arrives. He tells Regina that Manuel is his father.
Daphne corrects Dr. Jackson about a prescription he gave. He’s dismissive and tells her that it was just one mistake.
Daphne talks to Bay and Toby Kennish about the incident. Daphne reminds them that Dr. Jackson could’ve ended her career after what happened at the clinic but he didn’t. Now she doesn’t want to end his.
Bay goes into work at the tattoo parlor. A man confronts her about tattooing his son, who was actually 15.
Bay apologizes and says that she checked the boy’s ID. He tells her that it’s easy to get a fake ID and that the symbol Bay tattooed on him was a gang sign.
Mingo kisses Daphne. When she asks if he’s going to break up with his girlfriend, he hesitates.
Bay tattoos over the gang sign so that it’s unrecognizable and Noelle returns the boy’s money. After the kid leaves, Noelle tells her that the kid was clearly underage and she should’ve recognized the gang sign.
Daphne sees Ali at the clinic. Ali tells her that two years ago she received a heart transplant and the donor was Angelo Vasquez.
