If you missed last week’s episode of Chicago Med 2017, check out my Chicago Med 2017 recap right here for all the details! Tonight’s episode of Chicago Med season 2 started off with young man, Justin, being brought in after his window washing stand falls from 335 feet in the air. Meanwhile, April is talking to a young woman named Melody who has been sitting in the waiting room for quite some time waiting to see a doctor. April is really concerned about her and tells her to stick around even though she wants to go home to sleep. She gets her in to see Halstead and he thinks that her heart is failing but needs to have a couple more tests run. Moments later, her heart stops, but they are able to get it going again.
Choi and Manning managed to get a patient while getting coffee, a quadriplegic who is suffering from a high fever which is causing other complications. They think that it’s a UTI, which is normal for a quadriplegic, but need to run some more tests to make sure it’s nothing more serious. Later, when Choi presses on his stomach, the patient reacts, but he shouldn’t have been able to feel it. Which makes Choi think that he might be lying about his condition.
Rhodes is working on Justin who has a lot of pressure build up around his brain, but the doctor he is talking to about doing the surgery to relieve it isn’t sure he will survive. Rhodes is sure that he will and thinks that the surgery will improve Justin’s chances of survival. Meanwhile, April goes to see her doctor for her normal prenatal check-up, but unfortunately there is no heartbeat. April and Tate have lost their baby, but Tate isn’t there to hear the bad news. When her doctor mentions needing a D&C, she tells her that she has to go back to work.
When April gets back to work, she goes to check on Melody and asks her if there is anyone she can call, but she tells her that she doesn’t have anyone but she also doesn’t want to be alone. She asks April to sit with her and she does. Rhodes steps out to get coffee and the press comes at him with questions which he answers, despite being told not to by Goodwin.
Choi and Manning are speaking with their patient and his wife and they mention finding something in his scans. They find out that Nick, their patient, has been going to Mexico for stem cell treatments to help reverse the paralysis. Back in Justin’s room, he starts crashing and the only option Rhodes has is to do an internal CPR and he is able to get the heart going again. Justin’s parents ask Rhodes that they know that their son doesn’t have much of a chance. The next time his heart stops, the parents just say goodbye and the father gives Rhodes a look, like he was telling him it’s ok to let him go.
April and Halstead have some good news about Melody. The treatments that they were worried about giving her, because there were a lot of risks that came with them, they are working. She is going to be ok.
We end the episode off with Manning and Choi talking to Nick and Choi asks him if he really felt the pressure on his stomach. He tells Choi and Manning that the only thing he felt were the eyes of his wife wishing that he would feel something. April calls for her D&C and sets up the appointment while Maggie was standing there and Maggie leaves to find her. April tells her the bad news and Maggie just hugs her as tight as she can and then sits with her until Tate gets there.
