JChosen – “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye
The Judges Thought: Within the first few seconds of his audition, all four coaches turned for him. They were all obviously extrememly impressed with his performance, but Alicia was the coach he seemed to be singing to. Gwen was impressed with not only his voice, but the fact that he is a special needs teacher. Everyone mentioned that the emotion in his performance and the passion in his voice. In the end, JChosen chose to be a part of Team Gwen! I wasn’t expecting that at all.
Lauren Duski – “You Were Meant For Me” by Jewel
The Judges Thought: Within the first five seconds, Adam hit his button and Blake and Gwen followed suit. Adam tells her that she has what it takes to win The Voice season 12. Gwen tells her that she is really impressed with her using every aspect of her voice in this performance. Blake tells her that she is clearly someone who can with this season. She chooses to be on Team Blake! Even though she said she really wanted to work with Gwen in the beginning.
Johnny Hayes – “Try a Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding
The Judges Thought: He is a returning artist from season 11 who didn’t make it past the Blind Auditions. This time, within just a few seconds of his performance, Adam and Gwen both turn for him. Gwen tells him that the passion and truth in his performance is what turned her chair. Blake is of course pushing for him to pick Gwen, but in the end he chooses to be on Team Adam!
Skyler Harris – “One and Only” by Adele
She had a great voice, but unfortunately no one turned their chair for her. The biggest advice to her was for her to work on letting the emotion out in her performances. Everyone tells her to make sure that she comes back. She was bummed, but she is going to use this as another stepping stone to get to where she wants to in her singing career.
Anatalia Villaranda – “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars
The Judges Thought: I thought she had a really amazing voice and she really moved the crowd and it was a great song choice. It really showed what she could do and it impressed all of the judges! The judges all sold themselves as best they could, Adam even told her he had cake, but in the end Anatalia chose to be a part of Team Alicia!
Stephanie Rice – “Piece by Piece” by Kelly Clarkson
The Judges Thought: Within a few seconds, Gwen and Blake turned their chairs for her and now to watch them fight over her. The judges have told her how emotional her performance was and Gwen and Blake have sold themselves to her. She chose to be on Team Gwen! I really think that Stephanie has what it takes to win this season of The Voice 2017.
Branden Martin – “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)” by Travis Tritt
Unfortunately, not one turns for him, but the judges really had nothing but good things to say about his singing. I thought he was pretty good, but he did need a little more control in some areas.
Mark Isaiah – “Mercy” by Shawn Mendes
The Judges Thought: Gwen and Adam were the first two to turn their chairs for him and Alicia and Blake contemplated, but didn’t follow their lead. Gwen is practically begging Mark to join her team and of course Blake is helping her out by telling him he belongs on her team. Adam asks him what he is doing with his talent and he opens up about struggling with his weight and never really performing on stage before. It is time for him to pick a team and he goes with Team Adam!
Brennley Brown – “Stupid Boy” by Keith Urban
The Judges Thought: At the very end of her audition, Alicia and Blake both hit their buttons for her and she couldn’t be more excited. After all, she is the youngest contestant to even audition for The Voice at just 14 years old and she is a huge country fan. Which doesn’t look good for Alicia at this point and she does a great job at selling herself to Brennley, but she ends up going with Team Blake.
Shaun Chrisjohn – “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne
Unfortunately, some of his transitions were a little off and he lost control of his voice a couple times and the judges didn’t turn their chairs for him.
Felicia Temple – “All I Could Do Was Cry” by Etta James
The Judges Thought: She actually came to The Voice because she wanted to live her dream. She was diagnosed with cancer the year before and even though she is in remission, she doesn’t want to miss her chance. Everyone except for Adam turned for her. Adam said that he wanted to hear Felicia and Alicia sing a duet and sure enough, it happens. That right there tells us who she is going to pick without even letting the judges talk to her, but she is told she needs to say it to make it official. She chooses Team Alicia!
