Animal cruelty is still something going on very much in the world. For example, circuses are one of the main places that are bad for animals. And just before the Oscars, Casey Affleck teamed up with PETA to reveal the cruelty against animals in circuses.
Casey Affleck is nominated for Best Actor at tonight’s Academy Awards for his work in the movie Manchester By the Sea. And now he took the time to raise awareness for an important issue.
Casey shared his statement on the issue and said:
“I choose to work in the entertainment industry, but animals in circuses and other traveling shows are never given a choice.”
“This industry tears families apart and subjects individuals to a life of torment and deprivation. [Trainers] drag the big cats around by heavy chains or ropes around their necks and hit them with sticks, poles, and whips. They beat them mercilessly and bully them into jumping through hoops.”
You can watch his speech here:
Besides his involvement with PETA, he is also very anti-Trump. Last night, as he won the Best Male Lead award at 2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards, he took the time to get political.
And during his speech, he called Donald Trump‘s administration “un-American”:
“The policies of this administration are abhorrent and they will not last. They are un-American.”
We hope Casey will do great at the Oscars tonight!1 of 1
